Dear friends, today I want to immerse you in the delicate palettes of gray and pink. This color combination is rightfully considered one of the most popular. By changing the color ratios, you can create either a gentle and sensual interior, or give it seriousness and asceticism. Moreover, in any ratio, both colors look advantageous, because the gray color in this duet becomes less formal and seasoned, and pink acquires the missing expressiveness and brightness. Take a look at the selection of interiors where these colors were used, maybe they will inspire you...

Gray shades

The gray range has a fairly wide color range, which starts from almost bleached shades and ends with dark, almost black tones. Thanks to this variability, it is possible to choose a suitable solution for any design.

A hall in warm gray tones looks truly luxurious and noble, and a living room decorated in cool steel colors can evoke associations with a factory premises.

Despite the monotony, gray colors, due to correctly selected textures, create a picturesque and deep design rather than a boring and empty one.

Light gray colors will bring light and air into a small room, and also visually enlarge the space. Rich dark gray shades will help mask planning imperfections and small unevenness of different planes.

Bathroom

The bathroom is located in the second semicircle and occupies almost 4 meters. This area was enough to fit all the necessary things: a toilet, a washbasin, storage systems, a bathtub, a dryer and a mirror.

The secret of this room lies in the functional combined furniture, which helped to fit everything you need in the bathroom. For example, this is a hanging cabinet, the doors of which are designed like a mirror, as well as a combined washbasin and drawers. Due to the snow-white color and suspended design of furniture and plumbing fixtures, the room seems larger and more spacious.

The bathroom also combines various finishing materials, which make the room more interesting. Here the designers used patchwork tiles, highlighting the bathtub area, gray porcelain tiles and relief mosaic tiles in the toilet area.

Here pink is presented only in textiles: a fluffy rug, bathrobe and towel.

The cost of the design project for this one-room apartment is 29,990 rubles . You can learn more about the layout, design solutions, furniture used and finishing materials in our statement.

Combination with other colors

Due to the numerous number of shades, gray is ideally combined with other tones.

Living room in gray and white tones

Similar monochrome colors form a very harmonious duet, giving the atmosphere a special charm. For a comfortable and cozy interior, snow-white tones can be replaced with milky or creamy ones. The gray and white combination is perfect for those who do not accept overly bright designs. This tandem with the addition of black will look interesting.

Gray-blue interior

Cool blue color fills the living room with pleasant freshness and attracts attention. Silver or smoky colors will look good in combination with delicate cornflower blue and blue shades.

Living room in gray and beige tones

Beige gives gray more warmth and coziness. A good solution would be an alliance with sand or powdery flowers. Neutral and noble tones combine to create an elegant and timeless design that fits perfectly into the living room.

Gray-pink interior of the hall

Regardless of the chosen shade of pink, the decor takes on either a discreet and feminine or pompous and glamorous look. Hot pink is best used as accent spots. For example, a gray sofa in the living room can be complemented with stylish fuchsia decorative pillows, and colorful posters or paintings can be placed on monochrome walls. In a gray living room, elegant vases with soft pink peonies or roses look very beautiful.

Gray living room design with bright accents

The gray interior of the living room will be perfectly diluted with sunny and cheerful yellow splashes. Canary-colored sofa upholstery, curtains in golden tones, a lamp with a mustard shade, paintings or mirrors in bright lemon frames will add positive notes to the monotonous atmosphere.

Green allows you to fill a gray living room with harmony and peace. Cool emerald or jade colors evoke a feeling of relaxation, while warm pistachio, herbal or light green tones create an invigorating atmosphere.

Gray design with lilac accents becomes truly elegant and mysterious; turquoise colors deserve special attention, which give the living room a royal look.

An interior with pink flowers, accents or walls is most often planned for the bedroom of a girl aged 3–12 years. After this age, it is better to dilute this shade with gray, lilac, blue or any other at the request of the child.

Decoration in the living room

Certain finishing materials can create both a business-like and formal, as well as a homely and cozy living room design.

  • Walls. Textured wallpaper or decorative plaster will give the room a decent ambience. A modern interior solution would be to create a darker accent plane against the background of light gray walls painted or covered with plain wallpaper.
  • Floor. Graphite colors harmonize perfectly with beige, brown or white shades, which can be reflected in wooden flooring. A living room with a floor finished in gray laminate, parquet or linoleum looks no less stylish.
  • Ceiling. For the ceiling plane, you can choose pearl, pastel gray or silver. In this case, it is not recommended to choose complex multi-level ceilings, as they will create unnecessary shadows.

The photo shows brick wall and wooden parquet flooring in a gray and white living room.

If the surrounding cladding becomes boring, thanks to the universal gray design, there is no need to resort to major renovations. You can radically change the interior using accent decor, textiles or furniture elements.

Redevelopment

Redevelopment was minimal. We moved the entrance to the room from the hallway to accommodate a double bed and comfortably place a closet in the hallway.

We also removed the window sill in the kitchen and replaced it with panoramic French glazing with a door - so that the loggia could be accessed from the kitchen. The heating radiator was moved closer to the corner of the wall and hidden behind a curtain.

What furniture is suitable?

Gray furniture pieces will not overload the living room and at the same time make it elegant. White or black furniture will fit perfectly into the design. As a stylish accessory, a monochrome room can also be complemented with a red chair or other bright element.

Gray wooden furniture looks ideal. Bedside tables, cabinets, shelving and tables of a light gray shade, when the light flux falls at a certain angle, seem like marble or stone products.

The photo shows the interior of a gray room with contrasting red furniture.

In the living room you can install a sofa with exquisite upholstery in a metallic shade or wet asphalt color. The upholstery material used is natural leather, leatherette or luxurious tapestry.

Furniture and storage systems

Since the apartment is intended for short-term rental, there are few storage systems.

The main one is a tall closet in the hallway, divided into several sections, where you can store almost everything: from clothes to cleaning supplies. The router and electrical panel are hidden in one of the parts.

In the bathroom there is a cabinet for storing cosmetics and important little things like a hairdryer; in the same place, in the bottom drawer, the designer has provided space for a laundry basket and laundry detergent (the washing machine is installed right there, under the same table top with the cabinet). In addition, a cabinet above the toilet installation can become an additional storage place for household chemicals and bath accessories for residents.

The bed in the room has a lifting mechanism; bedding sets can be placed inside. A TV stand can also become an additional storage system.

Decor and lighting

For a laconic gray design, fixtures in the form of spotlights or a rich forged chandelier with crystal elements are suitable. Thanks to soft lighting, you can add new colors and beautiful shimmer to the room.

Lamps with colorful shades or colored lighting would also be appropriate here, which can become an incredibly rich accent in the living room and completely transform the interior.

Various decorative items will help complete the decoration of the room and deprive it of excessive severity and boringness. Silver, gold, glass and crystal elements will look sophisticated and elegant on a light gray background. You can change the interior perception with the help of a variety of figurines, vases, wall mirrors or paintings.

For the most calm design, decor in muted colors is used, and for a contrasting and emotional atmosphere, accessories in bright colors are used.

The furniture in the gray living room is complemented with fur capes and the room is decorated with live potted plants, vases with freshly cut flowers or tubs with mini trees.

Features of color selection for interior elements

Successful color combinations can transform any room, pushing the boundaries of imagination.

Furniture

Soft pink is a good background for Cremona oak furniture. Light-colored furniture goes well with dark pink shades.

A white sofa against a background of salmon-colored wallpaper will appeal to people who value comfort and luxury.

Floor

Pink goes well with contrasting colors.

The choice of color depends on the overall style of the interior, but a universal option for floors paired with shades of pink is gray laminate or carpet.

Curtains

Window curtains, together with wallpaper, determine the color scheme of the interior, so you need to choose the right combination of these decorative elements.

One of the basic principles of design is that the color scheme of curtains should be in harmony with the decoration of the walls or furniture.

The color of curtains greatly influences the perception of the interior

Therefore, you can develop several rules for choosing fabrics for a room in which pink wallpaper is hung:

  1. For bright or light pink walls, which are complemented by dark furniture, curtains in delicate and light colors, for example: white, beige, peach, blue or cream, are quite suitable.
  2. In an interior with dark wallpaper and light furniture, light curtains made in the same color scheme as the upholstered furniture will fit harmoniously.
  3. In completely bright rooms, you can use curtains to add a color accent by purchasing curtains in light or dark or light shades with a bright pattern or ornament.

A delicate interior created using wallpaper in various shades of pink should be complemented with curtains with a light texture, such as tulle or organza.

Textile

This is a very important moment. Most often, it is thanks to textile elements that the desired effect of harmony, romance and warmth is achieved.

Bright decorative pillows randomly scattered across the bed and floor, fabric rugs and a soft plush bedspread on the bed will make the room feel warm and cozy.

Which curtains to choose?

To create a more classic setting, choose sand, cream, beige, soft blue or pink-peach curtains. Yellow or orange curtains harmonize well with the smoky interior palette, giving the room a certain emotionality.

For a plain wall covering, you can choose patterned textiles with elegant stripes, floral prints or abstraction.

Pink is not just for women

Pink is a controversial color that is certainly not suitable for everyone. It is usually used to decorate the romantic and feminine interior of a girl's or young girl's room.

That doesn't mean it's a color reserved just for ladies! Used in a thoughtful manner, it should not be cloying or childish. This is the color of tenderness, youth and romanticism; it will add softness and comfort to any interior.

Pastel shades of pink are ideal in a light interior that uses a lot of wood, beige and brown shades.

Decoration of the hall in various styles

Quartz, coal, anthracite, granite and other gray colors best reveal the specifics of various style solutions.

Modern style in the interior of a gray living room

For example, for the high-tech direction, a silver and steel palette is especially often used, which is combined with white, black, red colors, metal and gloss elements.

Authentic Scandinavian homes suggest pearl gray tones, while French interiors feature warm and soft gray colors.

The monochrome palette is an almost integral part of laconic minimalism. The interior is sometimes diluted with a bright accent in the form of a wall painting, sofa cushions or one chair.

Gray is no less popular in the industrial loft style. Concrete, brick or plaster surfaces combine favorably with light gray curtains and a sofa with mouse-colored upholstery.

Classic style in the living room

Light gray shades of Gainsborough or zircon blend into the classic design and are ideally combined with snow-white stucco decor and wooden furniture with carvings or forging.

For neoclassicism, the use of elegant gray-beige colors is assumed. To create a truly aristocratic atmosphere, the living room is decorated with bronze decor, crystal lamps and furniture with gold or silver patination.

Pay attention to decorative details

Not only wedging in other color nuances can be an inspiring idea for a more advantageous presentation of gray and pink in the arrangement of the interior decoration of your home. There is one more “trick” - details with a floral pattern or stripes, which will look great next to the duet of gray and pink.

If you want lightness and air, then use decorative details with vertical stripes (for example, striped curtains, which visually makes any room taller) or even with large polka dots, which will create a cheerful mood. And for those who prefer a more sophisticated style, we suggest paying attention to the original floral prints. But first, be sure to make sure that the room will not be overloaded with colorful details, otherwise this may disrupt the integrity and harmony of the interior.

Finishes and materials

When decorating a pink kitchen, it is important not to inadvertently turn it into a dollhouse. After all, this is, first of all, a workspace, so you need to choose the right practical and wear-resistant materials, and with them color combinations.

It may seem that pink allows only classic combinations: with white, gray, black. But he is not afraid of the bravest comrades. A pink and green kitchen looks fresh and whimsical, a pink and blue kitchen is soft and delicate, and a pink and brown kitchen is cozy, warm and almost classic.

In addition, pink pairs well with modern materials such as plastic and luxurious classics such as pink marble or velvet.

Floor

Two types of floors go well with a pink interior: wood and stone. Natural parquet is not the best choice for the kitchen, but durable and unpretentious laminate is no worse than ordinary tiles. Natural marble or granite looks very elegant.

They can be integrated with a tabletop, window sill or fittings. Modern imitations of natural rocks are not inferior to real ones, and acrylic stone is also lighter, stronger, and more wear-resistant. Shades can be anything from white to black. Pink goes well with natural textures.

Walls

Bright juicy pink is not the best option for plain wall paint. It will be too tedious and tedious. When choosing such shades, it is better to limit yourself to one accent wall. This is a convenient tool for zoning. For example, to highlight a work or dining area.

To make pink the main background, choose delicate shades that are comfortable for the eye and perception. The best finishing materials for the kitchen are textured plasters, moisture-resistant paints and washable wallpaper. They are easy to clean since cooking surfaces often get dirty.

Ceiling

A bright shiny pink ceiling is a very unusual solution. But it is only suitable for large and spacious rooms, otherwise such a coating will be visually oppressive. If the room is small, classic light ceilings or soft pink wall decoration would be an excellent finish.

Classic bleached plaster is also used. It's simple, inexpensive and practical. Kitchen countertops are good because you can build in lamps and hide communications.

What is a color wheel and why is it needed?

Designers have collected all the colors that surround us into a color wheel, consisting of primary, secondary and auxiliary colors. Using the color wheel, you can choose colors that harmonize with each other, complement or play in contrast.

Color Wheel In the center of the color wheel there is a triangle, at the vertices of which are the primary colors: yellow, blue and red. On the edges of the triangle are additional colors obtained by mixing the main ones: purple, orange and green. Then there are six auxiliary colors and six related-contrasting colors.

Application of the color wheel:

  • The primary colors located at the vertices of the triangle are always combined with each other. The combination of colors that is obtained by rotating the triangle in a circle will also be harmonious.
  • The colors located in a circle opposite each other combine perfectly with each other.
  • Neutral colors harmonize with all colors of the spectrum.
  • Two related and contrasting colors can be diluted with lighter or darker ones that are similar in tone.

Style and glamor - a pink bedroom for true fashionistas

This style is always in fashion. From the main color range, dull, restrained and neutral tones can be distinguished. These soft palettes allow you to create graceful and delicate designs that create a light atmosphere.

Modern girl's bedroom. The room's design uses a pink and white combination and a couple of bright yellow accents.

Let's get acquainted with some rules for creating an interior in this style.

  1. Choose calm colors, aesthetics will manifest themselves in texture. It is best to combine two types of textures: light, smooth, bright for decorating windows and beds, and soft and fluffy for carpets and decorating pillows. The combination of these textures will definitely give the desired result.
  2. You can install a bedside table, a dressing table of an elegant traditional shape, lamps, and an armchair near the bed. You can diversify the interior with modern furniture.
  3. Interesting wallpaper with a delicate luxurious pattern. They're not cheap, but they look good. If you love glamor, choose this wallpaper. They mainly come in beige-gray, neutral and subdued colors.
  4. An interesting pattern on the wallpaper will highlight the interior. Glamorous designs don't have to be all the same.

To summarize, we can say that such a project will cost a significant amount, but it is worth it.

Choosing a headset shape

Modern kitchen furniture differs not only in design and materials, but also in the shape of its arrangement.

Cabinets can be placed in this way:

  1. Linear option. A classic solution in which floor-standing cabinets are located along one wall.
  2. Corner layout. This method of arranging the set is ideal for small rooms, since the corner cabinet can accommodate all the kitchen utensils.
  3. U-shaped layout. The set is installed along 3 adjacent walls. This arrangement is more suitable for spacious rooms, since the optimal distance to the opposite wall is 2.5 m.
  4. Ostrovnaya. An ultra-modern option in which part of the kitchen unit is moved to the center of the room. An additional work surface, sink or stove can act as an island.

The method of arranging the headset is selected depending on the area of the room.
