We had the idea to visually combine everything into one plane, making a single furniture system from floor to ceiling and wrap the box with furniture panels. Our budget didn’t allow us to do this, but we liked the idea, so we used budget optimization techniques: “if you can’t make a closet up to the ceiling, make the ceiling up to the closet,” say the designers.

By the way, this is the case when the paint was selected to match the facades, and not vice versa.

“At the project stage we decided that we would do everything white. This is not as easy as it might seem, there can be different colors in everything, so when selecting paint and decorative elements, we started from expensive items: kitchens and cabinet furniture. We took samples of facades with us and “tried them on” to everything else,” say the authors of the project.

It was impossible to fit a free-standing wardrobe in the bedroom - the area was too small. The problem was solved with the help of lockers around the bed, with a pencil case on one side and shelves in the style of a bedside table. On the other hand, we thought of a holder for a smartphone.

“It usually happens: the bed is pushed up against the wall, and the phones are stacked on the nightstand on one side. It’s convenient for one, not for two. An additional socket and pocket for your phone will allow you to comfortably charge your gadget, set an alarm and not disturb each other,” Anna and Pavel share their solution.

The upper cabinets are extended to the ceiling. By the way, this is a modular system of wardrobes "Ophus" from IKEA - and here the architects also showed ingenuity.

“The standard “Ophus” was 8 cm larger than the required size. Using a circular saw, a set of furniture drills and edging tape, the upper cabinets were adjusted to the required size, and now they are indistinguishable from the factory ones - assembled perfectly, without any corners,” shares Anna and Pavel.

The architects found the dining group, as well as several other pieces of furniture: a pouf in the hallway and an armchair in the bedroom, at a sale of restaurant furniture: thus, unusual things were included in the interior, but at a low price.

Finish and color

In decoration, preference was given to simple materials - paint, laminate, tiles. We wanted to create a basic foundation, so we chose white. But there are also accents. The tiles on the kitchen backsplash and on the floor in the bathroom are imitation terrazzo. And the walls in the bathroom are painted blue, and part of the tiles for the shower area were chosen in the same shade. With the help of small pieces of furniture - dining chairs, a pouf in the hallway, as well as textiles, color accents were placed in the interior.

Most often, the work area is located in the corner, a desk or computer desk, a chair and several small shelves or cabinets are installed. Another practical option is a wardrobe combined with a table.
