Turquoise sofa – selection of a luxurious, bright and modern model (130 photo ideas)

Features of turquoise color in the interior

When registering, please consider the following nuances:

  • Despite its pretty appearance, turquoise is a fairly active and even slightly aggressive color, so it requires very careful handling. For example, it is not recommended to overload a room with a sofa of this shade with unnecessary decorative elements.
  • Turquoise is best suited for sunny locations with high levels of natural light.
  • When using a cool shade of turquoise, it is important that the room does not look too cold, especially if it is done in white.

Types by material

Leather

  • Genuine Leather. High-quality, expensive and natural material. The leather looks impressive, but has a characteristic odor, is difficult to clean off ink and is easily scratched by clothing fittings and animal claws.
  • Eco leather. Durable material consisting of polymer and fabric. Visually, eco leather looks the same as natural material, has a durable and elastic composition, and a lower cost.
  • Leatherette. Fully synthetic material. May have different colors and textures. If damaged, it cannot be repaired and practically does not allow air to pass through.

Fabric

  • Matting. Natural fabric made from plant materials, has a unique weaving pattern. The material is environmentally friendly and durable.
  • Velours. Soft fabric with long pile on the front side. The material looks impressive, forming shimmers.
  • Flock differs from ordinary fabric material; it consists of a fabric base and glued pile. The surface is soft, velvety.
  • Velvet. Beautiful fabric with long pile is not durable and collects dust, like velor. Suitable for sofa covers.
  • Linen. A natural material, the fabric is not very durable, so linen is more suitable for covers.

Distinctive features of the turquoise color scheme

Turquoise is made up of the blue and green palettes and therefore takes on the properties of both. The green color does not tire the look; it gives vigor and helps restore strength.

Blue adds coolness and freshness to the room, and also visually enlarges the space. In combination, these dyes have a positive effect on the nervous system.

The turquoise shade is named after the mineral turquoise. This stone is used in gold and silver jewelry; its color is considered noble and elite.

An interesting feature of this shade is that it appears blue or green depending on the lighting, nearby colors and other factors. If you use this skillfully, then when changing small details, the turquoise sofa in the living room will look somehow new.

Shades of turquoise

Turquoise color, like all others, has many shades. This allows it to fit into any interior - cold or warm, depending on the wishes of the owner.

Most often, fabrics in the following shades of turquoise are produced for upholstery of sofas:

  • Blue-blue. This color is difficult to distinguish from blue in low light. This piece of furniture stands out clearly among other things. Suitable for bright and temperamental personalities;
  • White and blue. The most romantic shade of turquoise, which is suitable for a bed in a nursery or bedroom. Perfectly relaxes and creates a cozy atmosphere;
  • Bright green. Suitable for decorating children's rooms and Indian-style rooms. The sofa will be decorated with bright honey-yellow pillows or patterns;
  • Faded emerald. This color inspires, calms and “refreshes” the room. The sofa can even be used in an office, kitchen or living room.

When choosing a sofa, first of all, you should focus on your own preferences, and secondly, on the room for which you are purchasing the sofa.

Sofa design options

There are two design options:

  • Modular. It is a truly elegant, comfortable and functional design, consisting of modules that can be rearranged and used individually.
  • Folding. It combines beauty and practicality and is considered an essential furniture item, providing a compact sofa during the day and a comfortable bed for sleeping at night. Folding models may differ in different transformation mechanisms, for example, book, eurobook, click blot, accordion and others.

Due to a certain design option, you can solve various interior problems and compensate for the lack of space, which is especially important in a small room, for example, in a one-room apartment or in an apartment, such as a studio.

Decor

Pillows

Decorative pillows will make the interior cozy and complete. Pillows of any color will go well with a beige sofa, from white or blue to brown and black. The color and pattern may overlap with other items, such as curtains. The color of the pillows can also support a thematic idea, for example blue for a marine interior or green for an eco style.

Plaid and bedspread

Bedspreads and blankets not only add coziness to the interior of the room, but also perform a useful function by protecting the light surface of the sofa. The color and pattern may differ radically from the overall color scheme or overlap with some decorative items.

Case

It is convenient because it can change the look of the room due to the material and design. This is the most convenient option for light shades and is easy to clean. The cover material can be fabric or leather. The design can be anything; if desired, it can be easily replaced with another.

Carpet for the sofa

A carpet will make the interior of the room more comfortable and support the style. The color can be in the same color scheme as the pieces of furniture, or it can be radically different, standing out against the general background. For a classic interior, you can choose a beige carpet with short pile and a floral pattern; for a modern direction, a plain carpet with long pile is suitable.

Sofa with ottoman

Looks impressive in the living room or bedroom. The model is comfortable and will easily decorate a room in a modern style.

Sofa with table on the armrest

A beautiful and practical design idea. The table on the armrest can be made of wood in wenge color or in light colors. This model is suitable for relaxing with a cup of tea or a book.

Tones, shades and combinations of turquoise color

A sofa structure in a deep dark turquoise shade combined with yellow and mustard tones will perfectly complement even the smallest room. Also, this color will look no less attractive in combination with pale blue, milky or pastel colors in the interior.

A rich bright turquoise model or products in a blue shade can be safely combined with other colorful elements, for example, in shades of pink, blue, green, red, purple or lilac, the main thing is that the colors do not compete, but more details: They complement each other well.

The photo shows the interior of the living room with a sofa made in black and turquoise tones.

This color scheme creates a particularly harmonious combination with yellow, terracotta, blue, beige, light blue, black, white, as well as gold or silver. A combination of two shades of gray-turquoise or turquoise-brown is considered very effective and original, in which turquoise is revealed in a completely new way.

Color characteristics and variety of shades

The color turquoise means a mixture of two shades - green and blue. Both of them encourage relaxation and create a calm, peaceful atmosphere. Blue or blue fills the room with the freshness and spaciousness of the spring sky, visually expanding it. Green gives rest to the eyes and restores mental balance.

The turquoise shade has an interesting feature: under different lighting conditions, noticeable metamorphoses occur with it. When exposed to bright light, the color will appear greenish. If furniture with upholstery in a sea green tone is placed against a shaded wall, then the turquoise will shimmer with blue colors.

The turquoise palette is multifaceted. The shades are distinguished by sophistication and sophistication, for example, mint or sea green, moray eel, tiffany, Persian green.

Universal blue-green goes well with different shades and materials in the interior. It can shine nobly next to purple or chocolate, and will form a cheerful tandem with orange or yellow. Perhaps there is no color that would not “get along” with turquoise.

A turquoise sofa looks luxurious in any style. Such furniture rises majestically in a classic interior, emphasizing the elegance of the bedroom in the spirit of Provence and the strict beauty of minimalism in the office. Modern manufacturers offer a large selection of models that differ in shape, size, and finish. When making turquoise sofas, a variety of materials are used (wood, metal, textiles, leather).

For those who are often subject to irritation, mood swings, and suffer from chronic fatigue, psychologists recommend adding turquoise color to the interior of the room. In the morning, the freshness of the sea wave will give you vigor, energize you, and by night it will help relieve stress, find peace, and create a cozy atmosphere.

Shapes and sizes of sofas

Straight

It has an incredibly simple geometric shape, so it can be used to decorate the design of any room. The straight model fits perfectly along a wall or even in a corner.

Small

Miniature upholstered furniture saves a lot of space in the room, and thanks to its compact size it can be placed almost anywhere.

Monograms

They will decorate a beige sofa in both classic and modern style. The pattern can be repeated on curtains and other interior details.

Flowers

The interior will be decorated in classic, Provence and shabby chic styles. Upholstery with photo printing is suitable for a modern interior.

Cell

It will look harmonious against a beige background in a country living room or in a bright kitchen. The design is simple and can be complemented with bright shades.

Strip

A beige striped sofa is suitable for a room in a classic, modern or nautical style. Satin stripes will decorate a classic interior, contrasting stripes are suitable for modern design, and blue or blue-red stripes will decorate a room with a nautical theme.

Where to put the sofa

The arrangement of furniture depends on the shape of the room. The most difficult design decision is placing furniture in a rectangular space. A number of typical beginner mistakes:

  1. installing large furniture facing each other;
  2. zoning with solid cabinets;
  3. location of interior structures near the window

When organizing furniture, you need to follow several rules.
Large models are not placed one in front of the other. This is an iron rule that must be followed without fail. This will visually reduce this particular part of the space in the room, and the rest will remain empty. If the room is rectangular, this arrangement will significantly lengthen it. It is not recommended to place furniture in close proximity to doors. Also near the window. A bulky structure will block the flow of natural light. In this case, even light colors of the body design will not help.

It is important to remember the color scheme when placing. For a walk-through room where a turquoise sofa is used in the designer interior of the living room, you should not use the same shades in large quantities in the next room.

Gray sofa size

Finding a suitable gray sofa will not be difficult, because, as we have already said, this is one of the most popular color schemes. Of course, its size depends on the area of the room. But it is worth remembering that gray must be handled carefully. If you don’t want to make it an accent, it’s better to purchase oversized sofas in light colors. This is especially true for small rooms.

But in spacious rooms, such a sofa can get lost in the general background, creating a feeling of emptiness and incompleteness. In this case, you need to make the wallpaper darker, or choose another, more expressive model of the sofa.

For large private homes, long multi-seat sofas, usually made to order, are ideal. Their use will help to rationally use the space without leaving empty spaces.

Sofa drawing and design ideas

It is especially beneficial to emphasize and shade the turquoise color of the sofa with the help of white armrests, so the design will take on an even more luxurious look. For small rooms, an excellent design solution would be models with legs that do not seem bulky, and therefore give the decor elegance and sophistication. An even more original design option is semicircular sofa structures; they have a very impressive and expensive appearance.

The photo shows a straight turquoise sofa decorated with wooden legs.

A turquoise sofa with a striped pattern will fill the room with special freshness and, unlike the usual monochrome product, will add dynamism to the surrounding space. A classic design option, the aesthetically pleasing Chesterfield model can fit into almost any room.

Room design

A sofa in such a bold color can be combined with a surprising number of styles. A bright sofa will become an accent of attention, and furniture of a muted shade will fit perfectly into a calm style and will look good in the bedroom. A couple of yellow or burgundy armchairs/poufs and a sofa cover will perfectly highlight the turquoise color of the sofa.

Depending on where the sofa is located, you should select the furniture surrounding it and the material of the armrests. For example, wood or its imitation is perfect for the living room. In addition to furniture with turquoise color, decorative items should be in harmony: paintings on the walls, curtains or pillows on the sofa. Turquoise should overlap in several places in the room so that the sofa does not become redundant.

Contrasting colors look very impressive, especially with bright turquoise. Velvet cocoa color and dazzling white go well with turquoise. A turquoise and gray sofa look good in one room. A handmade Indian carpet can perfectly complement the interior. For such a setting, boxes with patterns, lamps and screens would also be appropriate. You can position the sofa so that direct sunlight falls on it - this will make the furniture the main object in the room. However, you should be careful with sofas that quickly fade in the sun (for example, made of leather).

In the case when you buy a turquoise corner sofa, you need to think several times. Such furniture may be too bright for the type of room. Pay attention to the light or muted turquoise, almost heavenly color. The sofa will not distract attention from other furniture, but at the same time it will refresh the interior.

A turquoise sofa is a bright and bold solution that will help refresh the standard interior of any room. It is only important to wisely apply this color to the interior of the room. You can choose a brighter sofa only if the living room is large and the walls are completely white. For a standard-sized room, it’s better not to take risks with such a bright sofa.

Interior decoration with a turquoise sofa

Examples of design in the design of various rooms

Sofa for the kitchen

The kitchen space is ideal for turquoise applications. Metal and silver surfaces of household appliances will be especially advantageous in combination with bright and unusual sofa upholstery.

In the children's room

A small sofa in a rich dark blue color will radically transform your baby’s room and become its most noticeable detail. This solution will fit perfectly into a child’s room, and in combination with pink, it will be appropriate for a girl.

In the bedroom

In a dark, north-facing bedroom, you can use a subtle turquoise color to liven up the surrounding design and create a calm and relaxing atmosphere. To complete the composition, the sofa design can be complemented with an ottoman of the same color, curtains and other decorations.

The photo shows a bedroom with a turquoise sofa on legs.

In the living room

There should be a large sofa in the central room where the whole family gathers. Size: proportional to the volume of the room. Transformation mechanisms are not necessarily present here. The model must be made of quality materials. Since furniture is bought for a long time and will be used often, you should not save on it.

The sofa for the living room should be spacious enough.

The color scheme depends on the overall appearance of the room. For light colors: beige, white, blue, a turquoise sofa in the living room is suitable. It will become a bright and original decoration. Additional decoration will include pillows, a floor lamp and a rug. You can choose any upholstery material, but it is advisable to increase protection from dirt on the armrests and the lower part of the structure.

You can decorate the sofa with pillows and other accessories.

Hallway

The hallway is usually small. Based on this, you should choose a small and compact model made from non-staining fabrics. The first room should have enough space when entering the room. There is a shelf for shoes and a clothes hanger. An interior item is needed here for convenience. The material is suitable for synthetic leather. It is better to choose gray or brown color.

There should be plenty of space to place a sofa in the hallway.

Since a lot of dust and dirt accumulate here from the street, light-colored fabrics will quickly darken and look unattractive. In practice, the corridor structure is never deployed, so it can remain stationary.

Children's room

For orphanages, a sofa is an ideal solution. You can choose a small model that will fit harmoniously into the room, leaving the children's room for games. Higher requirements are placed on the model. The upholstery material should be natural and not easily dirty. It is assumed that the structure can withstand significant mechanical loads.

A children's sofa should fit into the room and not interfere with children's play.

The design mechanisms should not be very complicated, especially if the child does all the manipulations independently. It is better to choose a calm and gentle color. Blue, turquoise and delicate sea colors will suit both boys and girls.

The folding mechanism should be as simple as possible.

Turquoise for different rooms

A turquoise corner sofa can be used in rooms for different purposes; it is only important to choose the right shade.

  • Kitchen. You can choose a fairly bright turquoise sofa for the kitchen. Delicate pastel shades are unlikely to be appropriate. In such a room, a bright turquoise corner sofa with a bright pattern or sofa cover would look better.
  • An excellent combination with a turquoise sofa would be dark gray wallpaper and silver dishes (if possible, you can use a second, gray sofa). Gold and yellow household items will also highlight the beauty of the sofa. Don't be afraid of small items in the interior - they will give the room a finished look.
  • Bedroom. For a darkened bedroom, a folding sofa bed in a rich blue-green color is perfect. If the bedroom is bright, then you can choose a bed in more delicate tones. The finishing touch will be several small pieces of furniture: an ottoman, a coffee table or a sofa cover.
  • Living room. A turquoise corner sofa in the living room is a rather bold decision. It will make the room much brighter. This means that other objects should not distract attention from the sofa in the living room interior.

Wallpaper, curtains, sofa cover can be white, milky or gray-beige. It is also necessary to add turquoise color to other corners of the room, otherwise the sofa will seem “alien.”

Win-win combinations: turquoise surrounded by basic colors

The fashion for calm monochrome colors in the interior is unlikely to go away soon. But this trend towards naturalness is also transforming; now you can safely add accents to the main colors, and not only through decoration. For example, furniture upholstered in light colors would be an ideal complement.

In a beige interior

The combination of beige and turquoise refers to the sandy ocean coast and natural motifs: sea waves, sky, ice stalactites. In such an interior, it is better to choose simple sofas with clear geometry - a classic Chesterfield without a tie or a modular model in the style of soft minimalism. The atmosphere also depends on the chosen shade of upholstery. For example, a dark turquoise sofa in the interior looks especially good in combination with mustard and sand tones. And light turquoise, with hints of blue-pink, coral and gold. Add green houseplants to the space to continue the nautical theme and highlight the turquoise sofa. You can add hanging flowers that resemble algae.

If there is no homework to highlight the natural design, such as in a neoclassical living room, play with turquoise with gold, brass or another metal. This will add festiveness and luxury.

How to choose the right one

A sofa is an expensive piece of furniture. Its acquisition is not made for one year. Also, the main burden falls on him. What to pay attention to, what is the main criterion? Everything matters: frame material, padding, transformation mechanisms. Important points also remain:

  1. design;
  2. upholstery;
  3. color;
  4. shape and size.

The sofa must meet certain criteria.
The best frame for the model is made of plywood or metal. The chipboard base is unreliable and requires low loads, which is not always justified. The mattress padding should be made of polyurethane foam, with a density of 25 or more. Foam rubber will become unusable after 1-2 weeks.

Design selection

Despite the fact that the quality of furniture is the main selection criterion, the buyer always pays attention to the external design. The design is always chosen in accordance with the style. The room where the sofa will be placed is usually decorated in a certain style.

The choice of furniture comes down to two directions - classic and modern. Classic design always fits favorably into any interior. It includes styles of different time trends: Renaissance, Baroque, Art Nouveau.

Furniture design is of no small importance.

The modern perception of the type of furniture has no boundaries. Here you can find the most unexpected solutions. Designers offer such interesting models that they should be considered for ease of use at home or in the office.

Upholstery material

The upholstery should be pleasant to the touch, easy to clean, and withstand mechanical loads. The quality of the material affects the service life of the furniture. For the living room, where there is more traffic, you should choose durable fabrics. Synthetics are perfect here.

For the nursery - upholstery that can be easily cleaned. Paints, glue, animals - all this leaves traces of intense pollution. A sofa in a children's room is often upholstered in natural fabrics. In this case, it is worth giving preference to materials that have a protective impregnation of Teflon.

For the kitchen, leatherette would be an option. It perfectly repels dirt and grease and does not absorb odors.

The upholstery material depends on the specifics of the room for which the sofa is intended.

Selection of tone and shade

Furniture in a room is a prominent piece of furniture that cannot be ignored. When choosing a sofa, you need to pay great attention, especially color. The seating area is central to the room. Color combination is very important so that the furniture fits harmoniously into the room and is not the only bright item.

The choice of shade should be given special attention.

The color choice depends on the preferences of the owner, but it is also necessary to take into account the general condition of the room. When planning a redecoration, there is an opportunity to play with different types of shades and tones. If you are only planning to update the furniture, then you should make a choice in the direction of an item that is in harmony with the overall color of the room.

Sofa shape and size

The shape of a furniture model often depends on the buyer's perception of the furniture. Designers come up with the most unusual designs. Sofas of the following shape remain standard:

  • straight;
  • corner;
  • rounded;
  • round solid.

Direct options can be considered classics. They fit into any interior and can be stationary or folding.

A straight sofa is a classic that fits into any interior.

Corner options are used mainly in rooms where more space for relaxation is needed and there is space for its location. A living room sofa often has a transformation mechanism, which allows you to turn it into an additional bed.

Corner sofas are usually placed in rooms with a large area.

The round shape is suitable for a room with a large area. Such structures are located in the center of the room, or in the recreation area: fireplace, TV. The same applies to the round model: you need an area to accommodate it. They are almost always installed around a coffee table.

A round sofa is placed closer to the center of the room.

How does a sofa look in different styles?

The turquoise shade can be done in almost any style direction. For example, a soft sofa on shabby wooden legs surrounded by antiques, and in addition to lace pillows, you can add new colors to the interior in the Provencal style. In minimalism, a clear, linear design in turquoise color with plain upholstery looks especially harmonious. A combination with a gray color scheme would also be appropriate here.

No less interesting is a bright or light turquoise model in a rustic country style, urban loft or eclectic style, giving the design a special twist. Such upholstered furniture, characterized by rounded shapes, gracefully curved legs, backrests and armrests, can perfectly complement a classic interior.

Psychology of gray

Gray color is preferred by balanced and calm people who do not try to prove anything to others. These are business and ambitious individuals with healthy self-esteem, they love order and clearly set plans for the future.

The color gray can affect the psyche in different ways. It is no coincidence that routine, boring days are called “gray days” - they drag a person down and cause stress and nervousness. The reason for this is the lack of bright colors and interesting moments in life. The same can be said about the gray room. If there is too much of this color, it will have a depressing effect on the psyche, suppressing and lowering your mood. For overly sensitive and melancholic people, a gray environment can even cause depression and nervous disorders.

Therefore, when decorating the interior in gray, you need to be very careful in choosing the color palette. To make the atmosphere livelier and more fun, you should definitely dilute it with bright multi-colored accents.

If gray is used correctly, it will have a beneficial effect on the owner. This is expressed in relaxation and calm, and in the bedroom, a gray environment will help you fall asleep better and drive away restless thoughts.

How to combine with other interior elements?

Examples of harmonious combinations with various interior details:

  • Curtains Very often, curtains are chosen to match the color of upholstered furniture; this solution is the most traditional. Depending on the style of the room, curtains can be thick, massive, decorated with tassels and fringe, or they can be lighter without unnecessary decoration. A combination of chocolate and turquoise looks very beneficial, filling the atmosphere with warmth and comfort, or a combination with a calm brown shade.
  • Pillows A wonderful additional decoration for turquoise color would be plain white, gray, black or colored pillows in shades of yellow and pink.
  • Blankets, bedspread. A truly magical combination is achieved with a pale pink, light brown and caramel plaid; a shocking blood-red and burgundy plaid looks very impressive.
  • Rugs To create a unique look, you can use floor rugs in shades of deep blue, soothing green, or even acidic yellow, which pair well with light and dark turquoise.
  • Armchair. A sofa decorated with a white or yellow armchair takes on a delicate and slightly romantic look, and combinations with emerald, light green, mint or sky blue armchairs and poufs will attract attention and will not leave you indifferent.
  • Wallpaper. The sea green color will look especially advantageous on a neutral beige, gray, white, milky, pearl gray or blue-gray wallpaper background. Turquoise also looks quite interesting when there is a green-yellow, green-blue or yellow-blue print on the walls.

The photo shows a small turquoise sofa combined with a soft pink rug.

Thanks to the large number of shades, turquoise can be combined with bright and more muted color palettes, which will slightly emphasize and dilute the overall interior image.

Upholstery features

Since this palette is quite diverse, for the right choice it is better to study photos of different turquoise sofas. It is important to pay attention not only to the tone, but also to the material from which the furniture upholstery is made. The better the quality of the material, the longer the furniture will look attractive:

  • Cotton is cheap, eco-friendly and rich, but not very durable.
  • Jacquard is an expensive fabric, but it does not deteriorate or fade for a long time.
  • Tapestry is denser than jacquard, less dirty and durable. However, the cost is also high.
  • Flock is suitable for people suffering from allergies; it is strong and brightly colored. It is very pleasant and soft to the touch, but over time it wrinkles and loses its visual appeal.
  • Corduroy shimmers beautifully and cleans well. Its durability depends on the quality of the fabric - it can vary in price and strength.
  • Faux leather is elastic, smooth and looks impressive, but fades quickly in the light.

What interior styles is a turquoise sofa suitable for?

It can successfully fit into various interior styles.

For Provence, choose a straight sofa with wooden legs, perhaps even with carved ones. Decorate it with lace pillows, the Eiffel Tower or floral curtains. For a sophisticated and romantic French look, use milky shades of light brown in addition to turquoise. The rustic style can also be decorated with upholstered furniture in this range.

A turquoise corner sofa is perfect for a modern or eccentric look. In this case, it should become the center of the entire interior composition, so do not use other bright decorative elements that attract attention.

Follow the same recommendation for minimalism, because this direction initially involves a minimum of furniture and decoration.

For those who love a riot of colors, the blend style is suitable. In such an interior you can combine all the colors of the rainbow; an excellent combination will turn out with purple, emerald or other catchy ones.

Upholstered furniture in turquoise color is perfect for a loft; it perfectly compensates for the grayness of metal or concrete surfaces and the coldness of brick.

Upholstered furniture in turquoise color will dilute the feeling of detachment of a rustic or rustic style, adding softness and warmth to a rough, rustic interior.

Fans of oriental design in the interior will also like turquoise upholstered furniture, complemented by a red carpet.

Turquoise room for a boy

A nursery in turquoise tones for a boy is more dynamic.

It boldly combines with other “sea” colors (blue, azure, light blue).

Yellow, orange or red elements act as accents.

As a result, you can get an interior in a marine style (underwater world, sailor's adventures), a secret laboratory, a fairy-tale forest or a traveler's corner.

Stylized furniture (for example, a bed in the shape of a ship), lamps, wallpaper and other decor will help complement the picture.

General decorating tips

The pattern of the cage is not very good next to such furniture. But exotic and ornate patterns will add originality to the room.

In a dark room it is better to choose bright colors, in a light room – pastels.

If the idea is to focus attention on the furniture, you should not use bright contrasts so that they do not distract attention.

Combination with other colors

Turquoise is a rather bright color, and therefore it goes well with equally bright colors. It looks great with bright pink, scarlet, burgundy, white-pink and brown things.

Of course, you shouldn’t wallpaper your room with blood-red wallpaper. It is best to use small objects of these shades: pillows, patterns on curtains or the sofa itself, figurines or picture frames. The main thing is not to use a piece of such a bright color just once; you need to add a couple more things of that color.
