Which method of knitting a bedspread should you choose?
There are several different knitting methods:
- in one piece;
- from square motifs;
- from triangular motifs;
- stripes and zigzags;
- from the center, etc.
We knit with a single fabric - this is the longest and most difficult method in our opinion. An adult blanket is knitted in a large size, for example 1.5 * 2 m, or even more. At first it will be easy for you to move from place to place with this knitting, but the larger it gets, the more difficult it will be to take your work with you on the road. What if you need to knit from different balls? In addition to the product, you will also have to carry a large supply of threads. So knitting in a single piece is acceptable if you do not plan to knit outside the home.

How much easier it is to knit with motifs. Typically, the motif for a bedspread does not exceed 10-20 cm in length/width. It is convenient to take this work with you and knit it on the road, in a clinic, on the subway, while waiting for a child to return from the section and on a walk. But the motto of a knitter is to knit every free minute of time. In addition, you can use leftovers from different glomeruli.

For a size of 70 by 90 cm you will need 400 g of baby wool or acrylic, hook number 6. Knitted in two threads.
The pattern is designed for an even number of loops. If you need to change the size, you can simply increase the number of loops, but it should be a multiple of two.
At the beginning of knitting, we pull out the threads from the middle of two balls:
- We cast on a chain of air loops equal to 75 cm.
- we make 1 chain stitch (CH) for lifting, then knit with single crochets (SC), 2 chain stitches, turn the knitting. The length will change, since the stitches take up more space than chain stitches.
- we pass 1 loop, in the 2nd we knit RLS, VP and through one loop RLS. We alternate RLS and VP, which are located above the skipped loop of the previous row. The last loop is knitted with sc, then 2 ch for lifting and turning the product.
Row 4 and all the following: RLS and VP offset by 1 loop.
The pattern will appear after 10 cm. We complete the product with a sc in each column and in each air loop.
The knitting pattern gives a dense, but light and voluminous fabric.
Plaid of squares
Performed in two stages:
- individual motifs are knitted together;
- the squares are assembled into a single product.
For knitting, knitting needles or a crochet hook are used. There are no restrictions here; it all depends on the skill and desire of the craftswoman and on the idea of the product.
Depending on the intended size, the size of the elements is selected and their number is determined. The squares can be any size.
Products that combine square fragments of different sizes have an original look. A stylish bedspread will be made from openwork elements. If you lay it on a contrasting fabric, it will create a bright accent in the bedroom. From identical figures you can create unusual compositions using color.

- We re-slip the knitted loops of the short side onto a pin or small spare knitting needles. We cast on new loops from any long side equal in length to two squares. The last stitch of the row will always be the first stitch for the new piece.
- Each time we strive to form a square. When closing the rows, do not tighten the thread too much, but do not loosen it too much either.
- We complete the required number of squares.
- To connect motifs, use yarn of the same color. First, the motifs are connected along the short side. It turns out to be a long narrow strip. Along the long side, loops are cast on knitting needles with fishing line and the motifs are connected.
- If this method seems difficult, you can use a hook to connect the strips.
