Bedding from Ali-Express
Since many of us order lingerie from this trading platform, we consider it necessary to give it a personal place in the article. All sellers have a sign with product parameters in the product description. Sizes of bed linen on aliexpress, table with symbols in centimeters:
View | Duvet cover | Sheet | Pillowcase (2 pcs) |
Single | 160x120 | 160x230 | 48x74 |
Double | 180x220 | 230x250 | 48x74 |
Euro standard | 200x230 | 230x250 | 48x74 |
It is not always indicated that in this color the set, for example, comes without a sheet. But still, do not forget that this is a specific place where everything needs to be double-checked more than once. Read the product description carefully:
- At the top of the product card there may be the words “cotton”, “natural”, and already under the line “Description” it is indicated “polycotton”, “cotton ...%, polyester ...%”.
- At the top of the product card there may be the words “set”, “bedding”, the photographs correspond to them, but the description clarifies that this is only one sheet.
The best guarantee of a successful purchase here is live reviews with details and photographs. Read about the best materials and fabrics for bedding in a separate section.
European sizes KPB
The size of PBCs in European countries often differs from national ones. This must be taken into account when purchasing, because French products are designed for pillows 65 by 65 cm, German 80 by 80 cm, and Italian 50 by 70 cm.
Important! If you chose European sizes, please measure your pillows before purchasing the set.
Main markings from European manufacturers:
- single (or double). Indicates one set of bed linen;
- very long single It's a game and a half;
- double (or full). Name of the double set;
- queen. Large size label Most of them correspond to the Russian-made European kit;
- giant size. Bedding for large beds;
- cradle. Labeling of the kit for newborns;
- Baby cot/crib. Baby clothes.

American version
Many buyers want to know what is the difference between European and American underwear. The differences are as follows:
- for linen from the USA, each size has its own special name - this is done for the convenience of customers (for example, the average American is aware that King sleeping linen (193x203 cm) is designed for lovers of free space and that the sheet from this set corresponds to the proportions of the duvet cover (size 51×91 cm));
- if the designation “Full” is placed on the labels, then this size can be considered an analogue of the European “maxi”; the duvet cover here will be 229x229 centimeters in size, the sheet will be 137x190 cm - you get a double set that is five centimeters wider than the European one;
- You should also keep in mind that related American kits do not match the Euro standards in terms of dimensions - it is recommended to carefully study the parameters when purchasing.
Tip: In sets from the USA, manufacturers often include a special sheet instead of a duvet cover; it should be fastened or folded over the edges of the blanket.
Family
Surely you have heard the designation related to bedding - “duet”, what is it? This is the so-called “family” set (more details at the link), it includes 2 “one and a half” duvet covers, 1 large sheet and 2-4 pillowcases. For a bed 160-180 cm. An excellent option when one of the bride and groom (or both) like to wrap themselves in a blanket.
The most common size of duvet covers in these bedding sets is 150x210, but if you want more, check out the Turkish duvet covers (160x220). But among Austrian products you can find short products. This is not a rule, but it is worth paying attention to this point.
For example, we made a table of bed linen size correspondence - a selection according to the standards of different countries.

Types and standards
Single and one-and-a-half beds
Equipment includes:
- 1 duvet cover,
- 1 sheet
- 1 or 2 pillowcases depending on the model.
As the name suggests, the set is designed for one, but today traditional single sets are becoming increasingly rare.
1-5 bedroom sets are very popular, and they are suitable not only for one person, but also for a couple sleeping in the same bed.
Double and Euro
A double bedding set consists of one large duvet cover and sheet, and may also include two or four pillowcases and one duvet cover.
The set is suitable for both singles and couples.
The Euro size differs from the double size only in larger sizes, the equipment remains exactly the same.
Family
Euro Maxi
The size of the duvet cover of this set is 220x240 cm, and the size of the sheet can reach 260x260 cm.
Pillowcases in Euro maxi sets come in two sizes - 70x70 and 50x70 and are usually supplied in a quantity of 4 pieces.
Classification
The classification of bed linen by size in Russia and Europe differs not only in numbers - European bed linen is marked with symbols in English.
- A single bed may be referred to as "1 bed" or "single".
- Double – “2 beds”, “full” or “double”.
- “Queen” is an analogue of the Russian “euro”.
- One-and-a-half sets are designated as “1.5 beds” and “extended singles.”
- Sometimes you can also find king size sets, which are essentially “three beds”.
- The designation “crib” is typical for bedding in cribs for babies and newborns.
Tips for choosing
When choosing bed linen from both Russian and foreign manufacturers, it is necessary not only to take into account the difference in the sizes of each type, but also the configuration.
Pillowcases
For example, one-and-a-half sets are designed for one person, but they can be used by two people, so in such a set there are often two pillowcases.
size table
Pillowcase size | Pillow size |
Standard square 70×70 cm | from 68x68 cm to 70x70 cm |
Standard rectangular 50×70 cm | from 48x68 cm to 50x70 cm |
There are sets with one pillowcase, so when choosing, you need to read all the information on the package.
Duvet cover
As for the duvet cover, it is usually selected to match the size of the existing blanket.
- The duvet cover should be 2-3 centimeters larger than the blanket.

Sheet
There are two types of sheets:
- regular classic,
- tension (with an elastic band).
The disadvantages and advantages of a regular sheet are obvious:
- suitable for all beds and mattresses,
- is inexpensive,
but at the same time she can:
- get lost,
- crumple,
- slide off the mattress.
Stretch sheets do not slide off the mattress , as they are fixed with an elastic band running along its contour.
size table
Classic bed sheet | Bed sheet with elastic band | Mattress size | Set size |
from 145x200 cm | 90x200 cm 140x200 cm | 90x200 cm 140x200 cm | One-and-a-half (one-and-a-half-bed) |

- Fitted sheets can only be used with mattresses, so it is very important to choose the right size, and for this you need to know the dimensions of the mattress.
Size options for fitted sheets
A sheet with an elastic band is a must have for those who like to roll over in their sleep. It resembles a cover that sits tightly on the mattress. Selecting a product is very simple:
The dimensions of the product correspond to the bed.
That is, you don’t need to add anything. As a rule, they adapt to any mattress height in the range from 17 to 30 cm, some manufacturers specifically indicate this detail. For example: 160×200(30). By the way, elastic sheets are also available for round beds.
Bed linen packaging sizes

Euro-maxi – King size
The largest type of bed linen, the dimensions of which are suitable for a bed 180 cm wide. The dimensions of the duvet cover are standard for all countries (220x240), the sheets may vary. The widest and longest are in Turkish sets - 270x310, 290x310, in Russian, on the contrary, most often 220x240.
Important! On packages of bed linen you can see the designation of the parameters as follows: 80x220+30, if we are talking about a sheet with an elastic band, and 50x70+5 (70x70+5), if we are talking about pillowcases with decorative trim.
It means:
- 80×220: the dimensions of the sheet for the bed and +30: the height of the sides that fit around the sides of the mattress.
- 50x70 are the dimensions of the pillowcases and +5 is the width of the decorative edging on them.

sheet
The main task is to create a hygienic barrier between the bed and the human body. In order for the sheet to lie flat and not bunch up, it needs to be selected correctly.
There are several types of it: By size
- Single (110x200) - a rare option, in fact it is difficult to find;
- 1.5 bedrooms (minimum length and width 150x200);
- 2 bedrooms (width 175x210, length 210-230);
- Euro sheets (width from 240 cm).
By shape
- Standard rectangular, mattress-shaped;
- Non-standard (round and oval);
Find out how to fold a sheet with an elastic band in the article - Sheet with an elastic band: learn how to fold and fold beautifully - 6 ways.
There are also:
- Extensibility: thanks to the presence of an elastic band, it is conveniently fixed on the mattress. Your sleeping place will not wrinkle. There are children's and adult sizes that clearly fit the mattress (this is indicated on the packaging). As a rule, a kit with such a blade costs more;
- Electric sheets: with built-in heating elements to keep you in a warm bed when it's cold.
In order not to get confused with the size, add your height to the length and width of the mattress and add another 5 cm. Oversized is not a problem; a large product can be placed more evenly.
Duvet cover
If its size is chosen incorrectly, the blanket will slip and wrinkle, creating discomfort for sleep. What to pay attention to when choosing it:
- Mattress parameters;
- Length, width and thickness of the blanket;
- The desire to sleep under the same blanket or under different ones.
The parameters of the mattress are important, because from them the blanket is selected, which determines the actual size of the duvet cover. For linen and cotton products, add 7-10 cm above the blanket parameters. These fabrics shrink a lot after washing. For a synthetic duvet cover, 3 cm is enough. The following table shows the main parameters of duvet covers.

Material of manufacture
As mentioned earlier in the article, manufacturing materials can be natural or synthetic. For a more convenient perception of information, the characteristics of each of them are given below.
Natural
This group includes fillers of plant and animal origin. The following are used as packing:
- down and feather;
- wool;
- horsehair;
- buckwheat husk;
- bamboo;
- cotton;
- silk;
- herbs;
- seaweed;
- latex.
Buckwheat
Buckwheat husk, which has a massage effect, is most often placed in small pillows
Buckwheat husk is used for medicinal purposes. This product will retain its shape for a long time. The massage effect has a beneficial effect on blood circulation in the head and brain. The disadvantages of this material are the inability to wash, as well as the noise that occurs when turning over on its side while sleeping. But the advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages. Buckwheat filling does not accumulate dust deposits, absorbs moisture well, and has a pleasant aroma. The contents are breathable. This is very important, as excess moisture that has accumulated in it is partially removed while you are away. Buckwheat is hypoallergenic and hygienic. The well-known bed tick will not be able to settle in such a filling. The service life is about two years.
The sizes of linen with buckwheat are most often made small. This is necessary in order to add as little husk as possible, while maintaining the required density. The husk has considerable weight, so the dimensions here are: 40x40, 40x50.
Bamboo
Bamboo fiber is a hygroscopic, wear-resistant material with an antibacterial effect, used as a filler for pillows of all sizes.
Bamboo fiber is gaining popularity among modern manufacturers, as well as buyers. This is not surprising, because made using special technologies that eliminate the use of chemicals and additives, the pillow is environmentally friendly. The undoubted advantages are:
- absorbent properties;
- air throughput;
- soft surface and plasticity;
- antibacterial properties;
- absence of allergens in fibers;
- long service life (up to 7 years);
- Possibility of delicate washing in a machine or by hand;
- ability to retain heat and cool.
The bamboo filling must be whisked frequently to prevent clumping. Due to the fact that bamboo fiber is light, the dimensions are selected relatively small. 40x40 or 50x50 is quite enough. This way it will be possible to maintain the required elasticity.
Latex
Latex is most often found in orthopedic pillows, which are rectangular in shape and small in size and provide the most comfortable position for the head and neck of a sleeping person.
This filler has ideal orthopedic properties. It is able to maintain elastic shape for up to 8 years. Very often you can hear people say that latex is synthetic. This is a completely false statement. Latex is obtained from the sap of a plant, which subsequently undergoes a special heat treatment, foams and is poured into a specific form. Extraordinary lightness and elasticity are especially valuable characteristics of latex.
Caring for the product does not require much effort. It can be washed in an automatic washing machine. Latex does not absorb foreign odors or moisture. An obvious disadvantage is the high price.
Other materials
Seaweed, cotton and grass are used as bedding quite less often than latex or bamboo. This is due to the short service life (1-2 years). The main characteristics here are the same as those of other natural materials:
- low allergenicity;
- breathability;
- environmental friendliness;
- affordable price.
Seaweed also has a high content of minerals, such as iodine, zinc, manganese and others. This has a beneficial effect on the health of the human body as a whole.
Seaweed pillows have a healing effect on the scalp of a sleeping person and do not attract dirt and dust.
Products made from plant herbs are used less frequently, and mainly as an additional element of a sleeping area. The pleasant aroma calms the nerves and promotes sound sleep.
Silk products are popular due to their unique structure. Pleasant, thin threads that form the basis of this material can cool your head on hot summer nights, as well as warm you up on long winter evenings. The service life is from 10 to 15 years. The only downside is the need for dry cleaning, as well as the price.
An amazing property of silk is its ability to adapt to the temperature of the human body.
Animal fillers
The well-known down and feather padding 70x70 used to be considered the best option. Undoubtedly, such products have advantages. High air permeability, softness, heat retention - these are the characteristics of down and feathers. But there are also a number of disadvantages:
- excessive softness;
- the possibility of bed mite reproduction;
- difficulty in care;
- strong adhesion to foreign odors;
- Possibility of pen falling out.
Classic down-feather pillow filling
Modern manufacturers have begun to treat the feather base of the bib to protect against ticks. But now people tend to purchase modern products such as bamboo and latex, so the down and feather base fades into the background.
You can often find pillows stuffed with sheep's wool on the counters. They are very useful (indicated) for people who have problems with the cervical spine. For osteochondrosis and rheumatism, doctors specifically prescribe such a foundation. The disadvantages include a high degree of allergenicity, the inability to wash, the proliferation of moths and mites, as well as a number of medical contraindications.
Pillows filled with wool have a specific smell and require special care.
Synthetic base
Synthetics are becoming increasingly popular. This type of material is characterized by the absence of allergic reactions, a high degree of orthopedic properties, and the possibility of washing. The most common materials are:
- Holofiber.
- Comforel.
- Gel.
- Sintepon.
- Expanded polystyrene.
- Foam material.
Products made from holofiber are recommended for newborns. This foundation meets all international quality standards. Ease of care, durability, lightness, hygiene are the main characteristics of this filler.
Hollow fiber balls are a modern and popular filler, widely used in the textile and furniture industries.
Holofiber and comforter also have sufficient elasticity, which is especially important for small children. Service life – 5 years.
Comforel is a modern, new generation synthetic filler used to fill bedding.
Sintepon is the predecessor of comfortel. The disadvantage here is the low degree of elasticity, and as a result, a shorter service life (up to two years).
Synthetic filling - comfortable, lightweight and does not cause allergies
Expanded polystyrene is ideal as pillow filling for pregnant women. This design can also be found in products labeled “anti-stress”.
Pillows with polystyrene balls are filled approximately 90%, thanks to this you can adjust it to suit yourself - by moving the balls inside the pillow, you can adjust the height
The helium base of the headboard is an innovation. Such fillers are especially good in the hot summer (they have a cooling effect). Massage functions of the neck vertebrae are also performed here. The disadvantage of this option is the high price.
Gel pillows are a combination of the most innovative developments in the field of healthy and comfortable sleep
Foamed polyurethane foam is used for orthopedic purposes. It is distinguished by a good degree of support for the spine, as well as the ability to remember the anatomical curves of the body. Since this substance does not absorb moisture and odors, it does not need to be washed. Simply wash with warm water.
An orthopedic memory foam pillow is made of synthetic foam that responds to weight and heat
Suitable - not suitable
Now let's talk about how to determine the size of bed linen that is right for you. When choosing, you must take into account the parameters of all its elements at once. Let's start with the sheets it can be:
- Normal. The ideal option is the width of the bed + the total height of the mattress with an increase of about 5 cm, excessive lengths and widths are acceptable: the larger the fabric, the softer it is and the less it is lost.
- Chapter. In this case, the dimensions corresponding to the size of the bed are indicated on the packaging. That is, if the sheet is designed for a 140x200 mattress, you will see these numbers. In addition, the height of the side is indicated (equal to the height of the mattress for which the product is intended).
A set with an elastic sheet will likely cost more than a set with a regular sheet. Such an overpayment will be fully justified by the ease of use of bed linen - the elastic band secures the linen well on the mattress, preventing it from moving to the side. Read more about the parameters and types of sheets in another article.
Secondly, the size of the blanket. When choosing a duvet cover, consider:
- Reserve for possible losses. For pure cotton and linen, it is better to add 5-7 cm, if the composition contains a significant amount of synthetics, about 3 cm.
- Maximum error. Up to 10 cm is absolutely not critical in the operation of the product. That is, if you have a blanket with a width of 140 cm, and the duvet cover, judging by the inscription on the package, is 150 cm, this is normal. A difference of more than 10 cm may cause some inconvenience.
And finally, pillowcases. Always pay attention to their sizes. In Russian sets they are standard, 70x70 and 50x70 are found only as an addition (in Eurostandard and Euromaxi). The situation with the Chinese is usually the same. But bed linen produced in other countries can only contain pillowcases measuring 50x70.
Important: a good pillowcase should have a sufficiently deep valve (about 20 cm), or close with buttons or a zipper. Unfortunately, the packaging only indicates the type of fastening or the inscription “valve”, without indicating the dimensions.
Foreign designations
The packaging of standard bed linen most often indicates the specific dimensions of each set. More budget sets may not have a size chart. Then the sizes and proportions should be judged only by English markings:
- “1 bed” or “Simple” means, in our opinion, a one-and-a-half set with a pillow, for one person to rest;
- “2 Beds”, “Double” or “Full” is a double set;
- “Queen” - a double set with an extra-large sheet and duvet cover;
- “1.5 beds” and “Long single room”. So one and a half sets with two pillows are assigned;
- Extra large set "King size". Not only two, but even three can sleep in such a bed. For example, parents and son;
- "Children's bed": bedding sets that fit into children's cribs.
Features of each type of bedding
Each set has its own characteristics, for example, the size of a European sleeper has larger parameters than a cargo bed according to Russian GOST. The standard sizes of bed linen according to the table do not always correspond to the selected characteristics of the bed.
Let's look at what is included in the kits and their possible parameters.
Single
The 1 bedroom suite is very rare as it is not in demand at the moment. Average sizes: pillowcase - 50x70, blanket - 130x200/195, sheet - 115x200/195. This set is designed for one bed, so all items are in a single copy.
One and a half
One-and-a-half mattresses are large in size, so the set includes a sheet, duvet cover and 2 pillowcases.
When choosing such a combination, it is important to pay attention to the country of manufacture; in Italy, duvet covers are narrower than in other countries, the length does not change. But the Germans and Austrians do not include sheets in their kits. Also on the package you can find the mark “Single”, which means only one pillowcase from the set.
Double
The minimum width of such a bed is 150 centimeters; one set can contain from 2 to 6 pillowcases. The standard is sewn mainly by Russian and Chinese manufacturers; in Europe the designation “euro-maxi/mini” is used.
The dimensions of the blanket are 220x180, sheets/mattress cover are 200x175, pillowcases are 50x70.
Euro
Home textiles of European standard brands are slightly larger in parameters; the set always includes a sheet, a blanket, two pillowcases, but the main difference is that Europeans sew rectangular patterns on pillows. Since euros are just a type of double sheet, there is only one duvet cover included.
King size
King size: The largest sizes on the home textile market, this product will be too large for a standard double bed. It is chosen by people who value personal space; they have huge beds.
Important! The sheet can reach 280x260 centimeters. In some cases even more. Usually higher quality than Chinese ones.
Family sets
It is designated differently - Duet, which already by the name makes it clear the purpose for two people. Unlike a double bed, these sets include two duvet covers, a wide sheet and several pillowcases, the number of which depends on the type, model and country of origin.
One and a half sets
At the moment, the minimum size that can be found on sale is 1.5 bedroom. For a single bed, even standard sizes of bed linen are not indicated anywhere except in old Soviet reference books. The usual equipment for a semi-truck is: a duvet cover, a sheet and 2 (most often) pillowcases. It is designed for 1 or two people and a sleeping place up to 120-140 cm. If you are interested in a single bedding set and its sizes, read a detailed article about it.
Important:
- The inscription Single or 1-bed on the package means that only 1 pillowcase is included.
- German and Austrian sets often come without a sheet, just a duvet cover and pillowcases.
- Italian ones often have narrow (with normal length) duvet covers, 140 cm wide.
Read all the information and detailed description about the parameters of the “lorry” in another article.
Children's bedding
When choosing children's bedding, it is important to consider:
- Quality of materials;
- Coloring (an important parameter from the point of view of psychologists, which can affect the quality of a child’s sleep);
- Bed linen size.

First of all, you need to buy a mattress and, depending on the size, choose bed linen.
Mattresses are produced in three standards for children and teenagers:
- For newborns.
- For younger children.
- For teenagers.
For teenagers and small children, blade size is usually not critical.
But for a newborn’s crib, it is advisable to choose a set in which the sheet is 40-50 centimeters longer and wider than the mattress. This will allow you to tuck in the sheets so they won't tear under the mattress or slide around at night.
In addition to the sheet, the children's bedding set includes a duvet cover and a pillowcase. Its size should not exceed the size of the blanket and pillow by more than 4 centimeters.
This is considered to be the optimal reserve:
- on the one hand, it leaves no room for moving bedding inside,
- on the other hand, such clothes, even after shrinking as a result of the first washes, will not be “hard” for a blanket and pillow.
Teenage and children's
Teenage sets are close or completely consistent with the sizes of one-and-a-half - adult bed linen. Most often they differ only in color and number of pillowcases: in most cases there is one, less often - two. Turkish and Austrian sets are the largest, suitable even for an adult.
Additionally: you definitely need to know the types of fabrics and their properties.
Children's (“Nursery”, “For Newborns”) sets have a different ratio of the size of the bed (60x110, 60/65x120 cm) to the size of the sheet (100x120, 120x170). It is explained simply: the further the free edges of the sheet go under the mattress, the better it is fixed and the less chance the child has of “taking it away”. Sometimes soft bumpers and/or a stole are included as an additional option with children's bedding. Read more about the parameters of CPB for children in another article.
Pillowcases
Pillowcases should be only a few centimeters larger than the size of the pillow. They can be square or rectangular in shape.

Instructions on how to take measurements
Choosing a family bedding set, like others, begins with determining the size. To navigate through the tables, it is important to know the parameters of the sofa or bed for which the set is purchased. You cannot buy a bed at first sight; it is important to take into account all the nuances, since comfort, convenience and quality may depend on this.
- When measuring a mattress for a sheet, you need to know not only its length and width, but also its thickness. The obtained data must be added to the thickness. This is done so that the sheet does not roll, but it can be fixed.
- When purchasing models with elastic, no additional increase is required, since it is already taken into account by the manufacturer.
- Add 5 centimeters to the size of the blanket, provided that the material is natural; if the cotton has already undergone specialized processing, add no more than 2 centimeters, since it does not shrink when washed.
- When purchasing a set of bed linen with prints, it is not recommended to add more than 1-2 centimeters, as the pattern may change and ruin the look. The image must be in the intended location.
- Standard pillowcases, either 50x50 or 70x70. Foreign manufacturers often sew rectangular models, so be careful when purchasing.
All dimensions must fit the bed exactly, so check all specifications carefully.
A new benchmark for sweet sleep accessories.
For a comfortable sleep, it is important to choose the right not only bed and mattress, but also bedding
Progress does not stand still; many types of mattresses, pillows, and blankets have existed in the world for a long time. They serve for a comfortable, restful sleep. All kinds of options for sleeping sets came into our lives when furniture manufacturers began to produce more comfortable wide beds
A wide double bed is an excellent solution for a family bedroom
The old double set has become frankly too small. Improved Euro standard sets immediately appeared. Now, choosing from a variety of models, you ask yourself: Euro bed linen - what does that mean?
To choose the right bedding, you need to decide on the size of the blanket and pillows, and take into account how many people will sleep on the bed
To find the answer, consider the width and length of the parts of the set. Let's start with the sheet, it comes in two sizes - 240x260 and 220x250. You can immediately see that the set is longer than the standard length. What else is different between Euro bed linen and double bed linen? Of course, the size of a duvet cover. It is wider and longer – 200x220. As for the pillowcase, its sizes remain unchanged - 50x70 and 70x70. Compared to double bed linen, Euro bed linen is significantly larger in size.
Euro bedding sets are increasingly in demand, as they are designed for large beds for married couples
But there is also a family set; it differs from a double set in the presence of two duvet covers. They are smaller in size, but allow you to hide without fear that the blanket will be “snatched” at night. This standard is the most expensive and not very popular.

How to choose the size of bedding according to your bed
Before you find out the size of bedding for your bed, you need to take all measurements. As it became clear from the tables above, accurate standards float up to 10-20 centimeters. In this sense, it is better to know all the parameters initially, so as not to make mistakes in the future.
sheet
It is incorrect to measure the sizes of bedding sets using the same length and width of the mattress. It also has thickness that needs to be added.
Let's say there is a mattress with parameters 160x200 and a thickness of 15 centimeters. Add the numbers and get 175x215. To keep the sheet tightly, you need to add another 20 centimeters.
To find the size of bed linen with elastic, you do not need to add an extra 20 centimeters.
It is not always possible to find elastic sheets for a particular mattress. In this case, you can take a model 3-5 centimeters larger.
Duvet covers
They have only 1 rule: you need to add the width and length of the blanket. It also depends on the type of material:
- Natural fabrics. Cotton and linen are prone to natural shrinkage and shrink after a year or two. The optimal increase is 5 centimeters. If the fabric has been coated and steamed, then there will be no shrinkage, and the additive can be reduced to 2 centimeters.
- Synthetic fabrics. They do not shrink, so the tolerance is less: 3 centimeters.
By the way, if you are planning a picturesque print (for example, “Mona Lisa” bed linen), then the additive is taken “end-to-end”, that is, 1-2 centimeters.
Recommendations for caring for bed linen
Before the first use, the purchased bedding set must be washed. To do this, linen with colored prints must be washed at a temperature of no more than 30 degrees, and then you can wash at higher temperatures ( from 40 to 60 degrees ).
- To keep cotton fabrics and linen sets soft, it is better to hand wash them in cold water or soak them and then rinse them in cold water.
- Before each wash, bedding should be turned inside out. This way, the freshness of the colors will last longer. Before washing, it is necessary to place colored and white items in different piles; they are washed separately.
- Sets made from natural fabrics are washed separately from synthetic ones, otherwise saw marks appear on them, they become hard and unpleasant to the body.
- It is recommended to wash baby sets for newborns by hand with grated soap or special baby powders.
- The drum of an automatic washing machine is loaded to no more than 70% of its volume. So, the laundry stretches well and does not bunch up in a big lump.
- Color sets are wrung out at a temperature of no more than 800 rpm. Otherwise they will shed quickly.
- It is recommended to change bed linen once a week in summer, and once every 2 weeks in winter. This way you can extend its service life.
- You should not dry your clothes in a machine; it is better to dry them naturally, turning them inside out to avoid fading of the colors. Ironing should be carried out while the laundry is still slightly damp.

How to determine the size of bedding for a bed?
Some housewives have encountered a problem when a sheet that is too long hangs on the floor, and a sheet that is too short curls up and wrinkles. If the duvet cover is large, then the blanket moves on it, and if it is small, then in some areas it bunches up into clumps, creating discomfort. Therefore, you need to choose underwear according to the size for your well-being. Before purchasing, find out the size of bedding that will fit your bedding.
- Duvet cover dimensions After measuring the duvet, add about five centimeters to this result.
- Sheet sizes. Measure the width of the mattress. If you want the leaf to hang down a little, add about twenty centimeters to the resulting value. If the sheet needs to be tucked under the mattress, its width should be about half a meter larger.
- Pillowcase Dimensions This is the most standard piece of bedding. Its size is 50/70 - rectangular or 70/70 - square.
Bed linen for children
The entire range of children's sets can be divided into nursery (for newborns) and teenage (schoolchildren). For the latter option, you can use a one-and-a-half sleeping set, but for newborns everything is determined by the size of the crib and mattress.
For newborns:
- The set includes a pillowcase (45x45, 35x35), duvet cover (110x140, 100x150), bed sheet (110x150, 120x80, 120x60).
- Bed linen is designed to grow and can be used for up to 4 years.
- In addition, the set may include a blanket, pillow and protectors.
- Fitted sheets are often produced to fit the size of the mattress. It’s convenient and won’t come loose when stretched.
Pillowcase | Duvet cover | Sheet | |
USA | 60×40 | 100×120 | 70x130 (with elastic) 110x180 |
Europe | 60×40 | 100×120 | 60x120 (with elastic) 120x170 |
Russia | 60×40 70×50 70×70 | 150×115 210×150 215×140 | 150×120 210×150 215×150 |
Attention! Children under one year old should not have a pillow, despite the presence of a pillowcase, they will need it a little later. In a baby pillowcase, just put a diaper folded in several layers. This will not affect the development of the cervical angle.
What pillow sizes are optimal for newborns and children up to one year old?
In the first years of life, children are not recommended to sleep on a pillow for at least two reasons. Firstly, the product can negatively affect the child’s still developing musculoskeletal system. In the first year or two, the best option is a flat, hard surface. Secondly, when turning over on a pillow that is too soft and voluminous, a child may bury his nose in it, which at a minimum will cause difficulty breathing.
The only exceptions are doctor's testimony. For such cases, there are pillows with a height of 2-3 cm and sizes ranging from 27x27 cm or more, to the same 40x60 cm.
A typical pillow is 3-4 cm high. The model in the photo is Sweet Baby Blu.
This is what such models look like in practice.
