House between the rocks, Plougrescant, Brittany, France

An ordinary private house, built in 1861, has become the main attraction of the Plugrescan commune. The house really looks unusual: it is located on a small island and is sandwiched on both sides by rocks that protect it from wind and storms. The owners of the house, tired of the influx of visitors (some did not disdain to climb on the roof to take photos), recently secured a ban on the use of his images for commercial purposes. But no one will stop you from admiring the unusual structure from the outside.

Djenne Cathedral Mosque, Djenne, Mali

The largest clay building in the world. It was made at the beginning of the 20th century, it seems, simply from what was at hand: a mixture of clay, hay, rice husks and sand - cheap, but, alas, short-lived materials. Therefore, every year after the rainy season, local residents organize festivals during which they unanimously cover the damaged clay buildings and the mosque with new mortar. Only Muslims are allowed entry - the ban appeared after a photo shoot for Vogue with immodestly dressed models took place within the walls of the mosque.

Liquid tile

With any touch, the pattern on the tile will change. The tiles are easy to clean and can withstand up to 80 degrees Celsius.

The Cherry Orchard

British designer T. Price suddenly felt that a simple plastic water pipe could become clay in the hands of a creator. As a result, the master created an entire cherry grove from pipes and ties.

Tree trunks are formed from intertwined pipes, and then diverge into the crown. The array of foliage is formed by rings soldered together, cut from the same pipes. A cherry orchard decorated an entire room of the Museum of Industry in Washington. A large tree also became the accent of the interior of the conference room of one of the American companies. A sprawling cherry tree stands in the center of the room, and a ring-shaped table is located around its trunk.

3D floor

If you want sand or grass under your feet, then 3D floors are an excellent choice. When using floors, it will feel as if the picture under your feet is alive. Just look at a photo of an unusual interior design to make you want to purchase a 3D floor.

However, you should be aware that this type of flooring is easy to scratch. Over time, colors become dull.

To restore its former shine, you need to purchase a special washing machine. The price for a 3D floor is about 1,600 rubles per 1 m2.

GRASS Laboratory

The object is located in the city of Volzhsky and is a prominent representative of the loft. When decorating the interior, the designers tried their best to preserve the spirit of the history of the room, because the industrial building of the mid-20th century was taken as the basis. The very purpose of the object brought functionality to the fore, so the architectural plan included the installation of special engineering equipment.

The old building had a frame-panel construction with brick partitions without cladding. Inside, there are columns supporting reinforced concrete rafter beams, and the vaulted ceiling exposes the back of the roof slabs.

As a result, everything was preserved, restored and, moreover, the beauty of the materials was emphasized. Panoramic windows were installed on the sides of the building. The brick and concrete walls were left as they were, and the partition along the room was lined with natural wooden boards. The ceiling was also not covered, so all the engineering equipment was visible, giving the interior a special ambience.

Considerable importance was given to lighting. The laboratory used 5 types of lamps, 4 of which had a suspended design. Special laboratory tables were illuminated by directional slatted lamps, and large metal shades were provided for the passages. In the conference room, 3 diode lamps in the shape of large steel-colored hoops with an internal luminous strip were hung above the meeting table.

We designed a brick wall in an interesting way, on which pipes were placed as a thematic decor, creating a composition of vertical and horizontal sections with turns and branches. Edison lamps were installed at the end of each pipe. The theme of the room is also emphasized on the side wall of the conference room. Here, the highlight of the decor was the transparent periodic table. Natural vegetation brings a touch of revitalization, and if in the working part of the laboratory the columns are open, then in the hall they are hidden by the abundant foliage of natural climbing plants.

Based on the lighting requirements for industrial facilities, it was decided to decorate the premises in light gray tones, and the laboratory tables and shelving were chosen in white. This color monotony was diluted with a touch of futurism and every second column was painted bright yellow. In addition, work areas were highlighted with white and yellow stripes on the restored self-leveling floors.

Living floor for bathroom

Unlike the previous option, a living floor will allow you to really feel real moss under your feet. Such carpets should only be used in bathrooms.

EMP Museum, Seattle, USA

The appearance of the museum of modern pop culture successfully echoes its internal content. It was founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 2000. Initially, Paul wanted to create a Jimi Hendrix museum, but almost immediately the project transformed into an interactive music museum with a concert venue and sound laboratories. Later, a Museum and Science Fiction Hall of Fame were added. It was the same Frank Gehry who brought Allen's ideas to life. Gehry's style is immediately recognizable: the silhouette of the building seems to have been blurred by someone in a photo editor, and all its surfaces shine and shine, like the body of an electric guitar under the spotlights at a rock concert.

Micro-house for weekends

It’s not for nothing that this creative mini-cottage received its name – its area is only 14 square meters. m. A wooden terrace in its outer part increases the parameters of the home. They relax on it, cook food in the fresh air or have dinner - after all, there is no kitchen inside the house.

The minimalism is compensated by a spacious window through which you can admire nature during the day and magnificent constellations at night. The entrance to this micro-house is marked by a path-platform. Moreover, the building has two whole floors. On the first, in 9 sq. m, there is a living room and a bathroom, and on the second floor, measuring only 5 square meters, there is a bedroom with the necessary furniture. Living permanently in such a house would be difficult, but spending a weekend there is quite possible.
