In some situations, it is not possible to use traditional curtains to attach curtains - this mainly happens when windows are located in bay windows. Ordinary cornices are not suitable here, since the wall line is curved and straight rigid guides will have to be attached with a broken line, which will not decorate the appearance of the window. In this case, a flexible curtain rod would be the ideal solution for hanging curtains.

Types of flexible curtain rods

All flexible holders are made of bendable fabric. They differ in the material of manufacture, method of fastening and design features. Curtain holders are divided into:

aluminum;
polyurethane;
plastic.

The most common manufacturing material is aluminum. It gives the product strength, flexibility, and reliability. The aluminum curtain rod can withstand the weight of curtains up to 50 kg. The cost of the product depends on the brand of the manufacturer. This is a suitable option for heavy curtains or multi-layer fabric structures.

To play with complex geometric structures, polyurethane canvases are used. Rubber has been added to the product. This type of fastening is also popular for zoning space. The holders can withstand material weights from 20 to 40 kg (depending on the manufacturer). Plastic models are a stylish modern option for interior decoration. It is used for light weight curtains. Suitable for decorating children's rooms. Using fabric, the sleeping and playing areas are separated, and small canopies are constructed. It has a low price.

Flexible ceiling curtain rods

With its help, you can not only decorate the room beautifully, but also “disguise” the mistakes of the builders: different levels of walls, asymmetry of openings.

Wall holders are attached to the wall using brackets. If necessary, they can be easily dismantled and moved to another location.

How to attach a bendable curtain rod

You can install a flexible curtain holder yourself without involving specialists. Flexible strips are sold in different sizes and are sometimes rolled up. Before installation begins, the strips are cut to size. The edges of the sheets are covered with plugs. After this, installation is carried out in the following sequence:

Apply markings to the ceiling or working wall. It should determine the profile trajectory.
Drill holes for fasteners. The standard step for holes is 40 cm. You can make the distance smaller if necessary for the reliability of the structure.
Runners (special hooks for hanging curtains) are placed on the cornice.
The profile is attached to the ceiling or wall using holders.
Cut off excess tape and fix the plugs.

To design ledges, bay windows, and areas with complex configurations, structures with complex angles are installed.

Things are a little more complicated with the installation of a cornice to a suspended ceiling. The stretched film will not withstand the weight of the structure. Therefore, most people prefer wall-mounted models. However, using ceiling options in combination with stretch ceilings is not only possible, but also necessary.

Important! Closed mount is more difficult from a technical point of view. But professional designers love to use it. Using “closed” installation, you can create the optical illusion of expanded space even in a small apartment.

The algorithm for open fastening of a flexible cornice to a suspended ceiling is described below.

Markings are applied to the part of the ceiling where the cornice will be placed.
A fixing profile for a stretch ceiling is attached to the wall.
A block (or bars depending on the type of profile) is attached to the marking site.
Stretch the stretch ceiling fabric.
The cornice is attached to the block.

Important! The mounting base (bar) must be of such thickness that it fits closely to the stretch ceiling fabric.

The closed installation method requires the presence of a niche. It is done in advance in accordance with the dimensions of the cornice. The flexible cornice itself is attached to the ceiling. The bars are fixed around it, to which the fixing profile of the stretch ceiling is attached.

Important! In order for the stretch ceiling fabric to completely cover the block, the profile must be secured behind the block.

Detailed installation technique

We have already said that no difficulties will arise when installing these structures, since a couple of steps need to be done. But the difficulty sometimes lies in choosing the appropriate type of fasteners. When making this choice, you need to focus on the height of the room to be finished: if it is small, the console is mounted to the ceiling, which will visually make it larger.

Molding bend: instructions

High-quality models purchased from specialized retail outlets can easily bend and do so in any direction, at any angle. If difficulties arise in the process of giving the required shape, you need to heat the structure with an electric hair dryer until the desired condition is achieved. Warming up is carried out progressively; bent areas must be secured using self-tapping screws. The lower and upper edges are twisted out a little, and then they go through a process of careful putty.

In order to be able to freely bend the molding in any direction - both inward and outward, you must follow certain instructions:

Mark out the lines along which the general installation will be carried out;
Secure the edge of the lines, bend small sections of 10 cm in length;
Secure the upper and lower areas with a screw or nail;
After installation is completed, the previous elements can be partially removed;
If you plan to install flexible and rigid consoles, you need to start with the former.
