Lakobel wardrobe doors - what is this material and how to care for it?

Designers are happy to use glass to decorate residential and office spaces. With its help you can zone a room, create diffused light, and create accent details. Among other types of material, Lacobel glass stands out. This is a fairly new solution that has already gained popularity among designers, not only of interiors, but also of furniture. Such glass is used exclusively for interior decoration. They are not suitable for outdoor decor, since prolonged exposure to moisture and significant temperature changes can damage the coating.

Lakobel glass: what is it?

First of all, we recommend ordering Lacobel glass for those who are considering colored types of glass! The ISTEK group has many options for colored glass, and the “lacobel” brand is one of the most worthy.

Here are the three main characteristics of this product:

  • opaque;
  • produced abroad;
  • flat sheet shape (so-called float glass).

All three features are a direct consequence of the specific float production technology. It means:

  • multi-layer (from 2 sheets of glass + 2 - foil) products;
  • applying pigments to the surface on one side only.

This is how a sheet is obtained, the outer painted side of which is glossy and the inner side is matte.

Application of lakobel in furniture production

Very often lacobel is used in cabinets with sliding doors. When manufacturing these structures, joints and seams must be closed. This

allows you to avoid moisture getting on the inner painted surface. Particularly popular are cabinets with a stained glass effect, combining different colors and images of strict rectangular shapes. This coloring gives the finished product a special uniqueness.

In addition, lakobel doors can visually expand a room due to light colors, or shimmering reflections, or add a contrasting note to the design. Particularly impressive is the dressing room, equipped with frosted lakobel glass and internal lighting.

Features of Lakobel glass

Our customers always pay attention to the fact that the price of lakobel is higher than its analogues. And there are a couple of reasons for this:

  • this is an import;
  • premium quality.

The branded product is produced at the Belgian plant AGC Glass Europe. This is a very old company, operating since 1914, which still maintains the best glassmaking traditions of Belgium.

The founder of AGC Glass Europe, Emil Fourcaud, modernized production by introducing mechanized glass drawing instead of the traditional glass-blowing method by hand. It was a technological breakthrough on a global scale!

Since then, the glass industry in Belgium has changed dramatically, becoming a benchmark: by 1945, the country became a leader in glass production.

Advantages of glass

To understand and determine which is better, Oracal or Lacobel, you should familiarize yourself with the advantages of these two coatings.

Advantages of Oracle:

  • Made from non-flammable materials that are also non-toxic. Films containing polyester or lavsan are absolutely harmless.
  • Safe to use. In case of serious damage, the fragments are contained on the vinyl film.

Advantages of sliding wardrobes with Lakobel glass:

  • Environmental friendliness. The varnishes and paints used in production do not contain heavy metals or chemicals hazardous to health.
  • Heat resistance. The coating can withstand temperatures up to 800 degrees Celsius.
  • Durability. The coating does not fade or fade throughout its entire service life.
  • Moisture resistance. Can be used in rooms with high humidity, maintaining the original characteristics.

Purpose of "Lakobel"

The rather large size of Lacobel glass is ideal for the stylized design of residential and commercial (social) interiors. Large panels are used to create stylistic elements of spaces:

  • wall panels;
  • fronts for tables/closets/pedestals;
  • structural furniture components (for example, frameless doors);
  • aprons for work areas, etc.

Where else does lacobel fit? Yes, anywhere - where glass is appropriate in principle! For example, as a shower wall/door, as appliqués and decorative details (thin thickness is used - 2 mm), for the production of designer interior components - interior doors with colored glass inserts. It can be completely matched to the existing wall color.

Properties and differences

Let's look at how Oracal differs from Lacobel:

  • There are 60 colors in the Oracal palette. Lakobel has fewer of them - only 26.
  • In the case of using Oracal glasses with glued white, gray, yellow film, the effect of the presence of a greenish tint may be observed. You can eliminate its appearance by purchasing bleached glass.
  • Oracal tints glass and improves safety. In the case of Lacobel, safety can be achieved by gluing a transparent film, which increases the final price.
  • If you glue Lakobel glass to the surface, it will become invisible. The glue does not damage the varnish coating, but does harm the color film.

Bathroom:

  • amazingly beautiful decoration of bathrooms with red glass surfaces;
  • red gloss in the bathroom in combination with white color creates the impression of complete sterility of the room.

Balcony:

  • functional balcony cabinets contain painted glass on the doors;
  • White glossy surfaces expand the boundaries of the cramped loggia area.

Rules of care

Wardrobes with lakobel do not require special care. In fact, the front side of a modern coating is nothing more than ordinary glass, which is not afraid of contamination, moisture, temperature changes and aggressive substances. Therefore, caring for lacobel is identical to caring for glass.

To clean the facade of a cabinet with lacobel, you just need to arm yourself with a washcloth, detergent and a few minutes of free time. After wet wiping is completed, the surface should be wiped with a dry rag or paper towel to remove any stains, if any. You can also use folk remedies - wipe the facade with a solution of water and vinegar. Like any coating, Lacobel does not tolerate abrasives.

Main types of facades for sliding wardrobes and their features (Part 2)

Hello, my regular readers, as well as those who came to my channel for the first time! In this article we will talk about the most popular options for decorating facades for sliding wardrobes. We will take a detailed look at mirrors with sandblasted patterns, photo printing, as well as new original solutions - lakomat and lakobel. In the first part of the material, we looked at simple budget options - mirrors of various types, combined facades, as well as “blind” panels made of laminated chipboard and MDF. Those who missed this article can read all the information here.

Color combinations

White is one of the most versatile colors, and all because it is easy to combine with almost the entire range of shades. However, there are combinations that look most advantageous. The black and white wardrobe is a time-tested classic, elegant and sophisticated. Such cabinets are best combined with an interior in a modern style - minimalism, hi-tech, modern. Be sure to have accessories that match the atmosphere - stylish figurines, large floor vases, photographs in modern frames, minimalist paintings.

The combination of white and gray also looks good. This is not such a strict color, but its aesthetic appearance allows it to take its rightful place in the interior. A white-gray cabinet is very well complemented not only by pastel and white, but also by bright colors. Bright orange, red and purple tones in the room can be a great choice. Stylish cushions, a drop chair, and a floor lamp will perfectly highlight and set off the cool restraint of gray.

Wardrobes with multi-colored inserts are also rapidly selling out. Here you need to remember that such inserts must be suitable for the surrounding environment. Red, yellow, purple, and blue shades are becoming popular solutions. The finished model looks quite unusual, but interesting. The color version is well suited to the bedroom or children's room, where there are usually a lot of bright colors.

A white cabinet with gold looks very beautiful and gentle. Few people use the golden color in large quantities; it is too pronounced. However, stylish gold patterns, a small abstract or floral design, and subtle edging will help turn a simple cabinet into a work of art. It is impossible to overestimate the discreet richness of this color, so you need to place the cabinet in a prominent place so that everyone can admire this masterpiece.

Bedroom:

  • the bedroom design is dominated by black and red shades, while the Lacobel floor stand supports the interior theme;
  • the amazing clean gloss of the wardrobe reflects the room in the surface of the sliding doors;
  • The black and white decor of the bedroom creates a strong impression, as if day and night are combined in one space.

Models

There are several types of wardrobes, and each of them has its own unique features.

A classic wardrobe is a real gift for those who are true to tradition and a little conservative. The main principle of this furniture is rigor and restraint. In this model, clear lines are combined with rich, exquisite carvings. To follow the rules of the classics, choose models in light shades without frills.

Sliding wardrobes do not lose their popularity either. They are a solid box with a bottom, walls and top, which can subsequently be equipped with the necessary internal filling. Cabinet models look equally good in any room and can be easily disassembled and assembled if necessary. However, such cabinets do not save space at all, and this is their only drawback.

An interesting solution for the hallway would be a built-in wardrobe. Compared to cabinet furniture, built-in furniture is more practical in terms of capacity. Therefore, if the closet is the main place for storing things, you should choose this model. They are also suitable for a children's room - the closet will perfectly accommodate all children's things, toys and books. In a child's room, a corner wardrobe also looks original - it saves space necessary for creativity and games.

How to choose

It is now difficult to surprise modern people with anything. In an era when many technologies have reached their zenith, and the range of products is so large that it is sometimes difficult to decide on the choice of one specific product, conventional forms are no longer impressive. This point also applies to wardrobes. Buyers often get lost when they see an insane number of different facades. Unusual shapes are very attractive and highlight the interior of the rooms.

It is difficult to imagine a modern apartment without a wardrobe. These products have long won their place of honor. But before buying them, you need to think in advance where the cabinet will be located, because it is it that can visually increase the modest size of the room, make a dark room light, and “stretch out” low ceilings.

To successfully purchase a wardrobe, you should pay attention to the following recommendations:

  • from time to time the number of things in the closet is replenished, so it is better to immediately buy a spacious model, and not limit yourself only to the drawers and shelves that are most necessary at the time of purchase;
  • The role of the lid, side and rear panels of the cabinet can be played by the walls of the room, with the exception of plasterboard surfaces. This material is not characterized by increased endurance, so it may not withstand constant load;
  • An important function is performed by the design of opening and closing the door. There are two options: the first is a metal frame, inside of which the door slides using special rollers. Such a device is not very practical, since movement can be difficult for even the smallest object in the groove. Therefore, the grooves will have to be constantly inspected and all unnecessary items removed from them. Moreover, if opened sharply, the door may slip and fall out, which is quite dangerous for a person. The second version of the door is represented by rollers moving along a rail. The cost of a cabinet with this device is higher, but the reliability of this design is beyond doubt. The roller is equipped with a special element that prevents the door from falling out, while making it difficult for foreign objects to get inside the rail; It is also worth considering the profiles along which the doors slide. They are made from aluminum and steel. The first models are more expensive, but they are not durable, while steel ones last much longer;
  • The material from which the wheels of the running mechanism are made is an important detail when choosing a wardrobe. Experts recommend buying either Teflon-coated plastic wheels or metal ones. It is better to avoid pure plastic; as practice shows, such wheels quickly break;
  • one meter for the width of sliding doors - advice from furniture makers. Why meter? Moving a large door over a greater distance may cause the hardware to break;
  • A cabinet with lacquer varnish will perfectly highlight any style. Thanks to the rapid development of technology in the field of furniture production, such structures are originally decorated with different designs and patterns. If you have artistic skills and a wild imagination, you can try to depict something on the surface of the cabinet yourself.
