Purple wallpaper in the interior 2022: TOP-200 photo ideas

If we talk about the latest fashion trends in the field of interior design, then today rich and rich shades of purple are at the peak of popularity. But most often plum shades are used in the interior of the living room, hall, and bedroom.

This color is somewhere between burgundy and purple. It is bright and rich, ripe and juicy, elegant and calm at the same time. Curtains of this color in the interior are a stylish element of decor that is difficult not to pay attention to. They attract attention and will not leave anyone indifferent; the main thing is to choose the right shade that will be most harmoniously combined with other details of the decor.

Features of application

To understand the specifics of using purple wallpaper in the interior, you should find out all the features of such shades.
Purple includes both cool (blue) and warm (red) shades. This admixture of opposite colors determined the contradictory nature of purple wallpaper. That is why designers advise not to use an excessive amount of purple tones in the interior - it is advisable to decorate only one of the walls with them or create small inserts on already pasted light wallpaper.

Purple is ideal for combining backgrounds. With its help, you can emphasize certain areas of the room, as well as divide the wall into two or more parts.

When choosing purple wallpaper for walls, think in advance which shade will best reveal your design idea.

Since a room with purple wallpaper is perceived as dull and gloomy, such shades are not recommended for decorating cramped and poorly lit rooms.

But in rooms with a disproportionate shape, wallpaper of this type allows you to correct the design flaws: by decorating one wall in a purple tone and the rest in a lighter tone, you can visually move this surface away.

This palette can be presented in a large number of shades:

  • lilac (light purple with a hint of pink);
  • lavender (pale purple);
  • lilac (bright and light purple);
  • purple (with elements of a burgundy palette);
  • eggplant (dark purple);
  • standard bright purple shade and others.

These shades can be combined with each other to create harmonious tints in the interior or combined with wallpaper of a different color.

The combination of purple wallpaper with other shades is possible in different versions: plain (with less saturated and light shades), contrasting (with bright tones), neutral (with black, white, gray and brown colors).

Purple color is suitable for decorating walls in modern, high-tech, minimalist styles, as well as in classical, pop art and Victorian styles.

Thematic drawings on the coverings will help to emphasize the stylistic direction. For example, purple wallpaper with strict patterns can be used for rooms in a classic style, while abstract motifs can be used for a modern design.

Rustic simplicity

Rustic style is incredibly popular. It always conveys an atmosphere of organic beauty, and plum color will only emphasize the uniqueness and stylishness of the interior. Designers are so keen on monochrome interiors that they propose introducing a variety of “delicious” colors into it: chocolate, cherry, peach and blueberry.

Dark purple colors are less common in the interior. The reason is that they are considered heavy and overloaded. Thanks to this, they can be used instead of black and other dark colors.

Combination with different styles

Various shades of purple are successfully used in many styles:

  1. Lavender is the hallmark of the Provençal style;
  2. The color of the iris is considered by many to be a symbol of Russian Art Nouveau;
  3. Any bright and rich tone will ideally complement modern interior styles, for example, pop art, fusion or hi-tech;
  4. Minimalism and classic interiors are combined with many shades of this color;
  5. Also, purple looks good in an interior decorated in an ethnic style (it can be Arabic, Indian or Moroccan);
  6. In Baroque, Art Deco or Rococo styles, the sensual notes of lilac are harmoniously combined with elegant mirrors and the sparkle of crystals. Combining a purple hue with gold surfaces can add charm and luxury to a room.

Classical

For walls in a classic style, dark purple with an embossed ornate pattern is suitable. In combination with furniture and textiles, it creates a calm, classic atmosphere in the house.

Modern

This option uses light shades of purple. It can be combined with embossed wallpaper, photo wallpaper. Modern style includes floral, striped, checkered, abstract, and solid patterns.

Modern

Bright colors, patterns, vertical and horizontal stripes, and abstract images attract attention. You can use stylized wallpaper with the effect of plaster and masonry.

The photo shows purple wallpaper with a plaster effect. Rugs and curtains of a lighter shade, contrasting furniture will complement the interior of the living room.

Minimalism

Plain wallpaper is used, without bright accents, which does not distract attention from the elegant interior and furniture. Delicate purple shades with a simple texture and small motifs in this version will be the ideal solution.

High tech

What to wear with a plum skirt

A plum-colored skirt will help you feel a couple of years younger and add some carefreeness to your look. Let’s take a closer look at what to wear with a skirt.

For the top, you can choose a blouse or turtleneck in light shades and feel free to go to work. Short t-shirts with an open belly and translucent blouses are suitable for brave and creative girls. Using a floral print with a plum skirt will highlight your femininity. If you are used to being in the center of a group, bright colors at the top will suit you. Yellow and green shades will look beautiful paired with a plum skirt. Mint shades will help bring a bold look to life. They can be used in the form of outerwear, as well as in the form of jewelry or nail polish. Moderiers claim that due to the special naturalness and freshness of the color, absolutely any color is suitable for the plum shade, but a plum-colored skirt has one contraindication: pink in clothes. The use of pink will give the impression of childishness and frivolity, which is not typical, for example, for an office worker or an older woman.

Ideal color combinations

A purple garniture will look impressive against the background of white walls. The predominance of a light palette will give a feeling of purity, and royal purple will give luxury. The result is a chic and at the same time quite cozy kitchen.

An alternative to pure white can be shades such as pearl, milky and light beige.

However, designers advise choosing a pristine white background, because its freshness and neutrality can balance even the most extravagant interiors.

Furniture with bright lilac facades will look advantageous against a white background of walls. You can add the same bright apron, but in a rich purple color.

It is impossible not to recall the classic tandem of black and purple colors.

The use of dark colors should be limited. Black tiles on the floor or furniture with glossy black facades are enough.

A good kitchen design option is a combination of yellow and purple colors. The vivacity of the first will be diluted, and the severity of the second will soften.

Gradation of shades

Modern interiors are often filled with bright elements, and in a direction such as pop art, the basis is a combination of colors.

The purple color scheme fits perfectly into this context, allowing you to mix pure purple with muted, light and dark shades of the spectrum. The following colors can be diluted:

  • cornflower;
  • amethyst;
  • violet;
  • eggplant;
  • lavender;
  • lilac;
  • prunes.

By combining three types of shades of the same color, you can create an interior with a harmonious atmosphere suitable for the bedroom.

Combination with green and yellow

Depending on the saturation of green or yellow and violet, both bright and pale colors look good in the interior. Delicate green tones perfectly complement lavender or lilac colors in the interior, creating a feeling of freshness. Pairing a vibrant purple with a hint of apple green or lemon yellow can create a stunning kitchen, living room or office.

The combination of purple with muted shades of yellow, sand or mustard looks beneficial.

In nature you can find a similar harmonious combination - violets, irises. It is important to correctly combine light green and purple tones so that there is no “heaviness” in the interior.

Combined with gray

Using a neutral gray color, you can create a cozy atmosphere of nobility and sophistication. Most often, a combination of purple and gray tones is used in the design of high-tech kitchens and living rooms. However, they can go well with an interior in a modern or loft style.

With dark tones

If purple wallpaper is chosen for the hallway, you can safely complement it with black accents. Purple-black solutions are good for finishing dressing rooms, bathrooms, and corridors. Those who find the contrast of black and purple too harsh can try softening the transition by adding rich shades of gray.

This trio will satisfy the needs of classic and minimalist interiors. The severity of a dark background can be refined with gilding or lightened with splashes of silver.

Harmony with brown

This is a very soft and versatile combination that can be used to decorate any room, but is most often used in living rooms and bedrooms.

Tandem with white color

White and purple in the interior are the most impeccable and elegant pair. White is able to drown out the darkness of purple and its excessive brightness. This combination is considered universal, since depending on the tone of purple it is suitable for almost any room. Therefore, the combination of lavender and white will add tenderness and lightness to the room. In combination with an amethyst or purple shade, white will create an atmosphere of mystery.

Striped

Purple striped wallpaper will help correct imperfections in the room and brightly decorate the room. If the room has low ceilings and you want to visually raise them, then a vertical stripe is an ideal option. When choosing wallpaper, it is important to consider the color of the stripes and their alternation, as these two factors will affect the final result.

A horizontal stripe will visually enlarge a narrow room with high ceilings. Such decor will have to be abandoned with low ceilings. A universal option for a large living room and bedroom is a wide stripe.

A diagonal stripe will allow one wall in the room to stand out brightly. The remaining walls should be decorated in a single lilac color.

A diagonal stripe will help disguise wall unevenness.

Plum color of the dress. Plum color combination

Plum color does not go well with all shades. Here you need to be careful about your choice so as not to spoil the image. It is an excellent option for choosing casual or festive clothing. However, you should figure out what color plum goes with.

Black and white go well together and are a great option for everyday wear. The most successful combination is with beige-brown shades; this option gives warmth and comfort, and ennobles the image as a whole. Black can be used to complement a festive look. You can also add a golden clutch to your plum dress for this purpose.

Selecting curtains

If there is little sunlight in the room, it is better to choose tulle. But if the room is bright enough, you can hang dark curtains. Bright color visually reduces space.

The following color combinations are suitable for purple:

  • Eggplant, green curtains, chocolate shades with a milky pattern are suitable for dark purple walls.
  • Pale purple walls look better with cherry, purple, turquoise, blue, yellow, orange, beige, and brown curtains.
  • Delicate purple is combined with blue, lavender, mustard, light green and cream curtains, giving them a richer shade.

In the photo, long curtains in lilac shades emphasize the modern design and are combined with the overall concept.

If the room is small and has many windows, it is better to use roller blinds or Roman blinds. Color: beige, pink, turquoise. Suitable for living room and kitchen.

Such curtains are used in classic interiors. An excellent option for rooms with high ceilings and large windows. Color: beige and silver. They look good both in the living room and in the bedroom.

Roman blinds in light colors are suitable for the bedroom and living room. Visually increase the space and add light.

The pattern of the curtains depends on the amount of light and the size of the room:

  • if the room is small, it is better to choose fabric with a small pattern;
  • in a large room, material with a large print is used;
  • if the picture is placed vertically, the room becomes taller, if horizontally, it becomes wider;
  • Abstraction, waves, geometric patterns, and striped fabrics are popular.

The photo shows purple curtains with eyelets. They are easy to use and create smooth waves on the fabric.

What to wear with a plum dress

Plum-colored dresses are best worn in the warm season. In summer, spring and early autumn, a plum-colored dress goes well with natural colors. You should not wear such a model in winter, it will look too dull and gloomy. Some tips on what to wear with plum-colored dresses:

– Give preference to pastel tones of shoes: lilac, mint, soft pink, and golden sandals with sparkles and rhinestones will also look great.

– The use of pearl jewelry looks chic on a plum-colored dress.

– Don’t overdo it with accessories. Beads and a bracelet are enough; excess jewelry will overwhelm your look.

– A light jacket or jacket in yellow shades on a cool evening will dilute the plum extravaganza.

Purple in different rooms: how to use the color

Learning to combine tones correctly is only half the battle. It is important to understand the appropriateness of the presence of certain colors in the decor of the room. You need to choose wallpaper for a purple kitchen, bedroom, or hallway according to certain principles.

The determining factors should be:

  • arrangement of the room (ceiling height, space geometry, presence of complex structural elements such as niches or uneven corners);
  • functional purpose of the room;
  • area size;
  • quality of lighting.

Hallway

Unfortunately, the corridors in many apartments are the darkest corners. The organization of multi-level lighting will help solve the problem of using the violet spectrum in their design. But even in this case, it is better to add dark shades with an accent, for example, splashes. A horizontal combination of stripes will look great.

In general, liquid wallpaper in a light purple color is optimal for a hallway. Such a wall covering will be quite resistant to abrasion and caring for it will not be difficult. Vinyl wallpaper can also last a long time and withstand typical loads. If the style requires it, you can add bricks or combine them with artificial stone slabs.

Walls in a blue-violet design will harmoniously fit into well-lit corridors.

In many photos, lilac wallpaper is used to create accents - here you can also focus on mirrors, furniture, and the front door. Or provide a smooth transition to adjacent rooms.

Living room

For the walls in the living room, it would be appropriate to choose lilac wallpaper in different shades or with a different pattern, for example, plain and with a floral pattern. With the help of such finishing it will be possible to effectively zone a room, especially if the room has a small area:

  • The wall on which you plan to focus attention can be covered with plain wallpaper in a rich lilac shade. Here it is worth placing decorative elements (mirror or paintings in beautiful frames, photo composition, panels, spectacular sconces, bookshelves).
  • The wall with the TV will look good and will not be distracting if it is decorated with light lilac wallpaper, plain or with a discreet pattern.
  • The sitting area (behind the sofa) can be decorated with lilac wallpaper with a large pattern or with an unusual texture, for example, embossed or a combination of glossy and matte surfaces.

When decorating the walls in the living room with simple lilac wallpaper, it is worth balancing them with inserts of contrasting shades, for example, white or beige. Such accents can be placed on one of the walls, for example, with windows or doors.

When choosing furniture, focus on the color of the walls:

  • Light wallpaper will serve as a good backdrop for massive furniture in dark colors. The presence of light interior items will add lightness.
  • They will look impressive in combination with lilac wallpaper of a dark or bright shade, furniture made of wood in light shades. Mirrors and multi-level lighting will add lightness and light.

Dark or bright lilac wallpaper is ideal for a living room with large windows that allow plenty of natural light into the room.

Bright accents (fabrics, carpets, decorative pillows) in rich pink shades (fuchsia, raspberry) will complement the interior of the living room with lilac wallpaper. It is advisable to combine accessories of deeper colors with a light and soft background, and pastel ones with a dark one.

Kitchen

In order for the kitchen to look impressive, it must be decorated using bright shades of purple in combination with white. For minimalism or high-tech style, dark shades of purple or plum, diluted with gray, white or silver, are suitable. No less popular are kitchens in the pin-up style, which is characterized by warm shades of yellow and light eggplant.

If the dining area is also located in the kitchen, then when creating the interior you need to pay attention to nuances that improve appetite (eggplant, plum, wine). Plates, tablecloths, kitchen towels, spice boxes made in purple can be a wonderful addition to the interior.

Children's

Violet shades combined with mint and lemon tones will help create a pleasant atmosphere for the young lady. In addition, this combination of colors will contribute to the child’s creative mood.

Purple can also be used in the interior of a boy’s room. However, in this case, silver or orange spots cannot be avoided. Such a room will acquire high-tech features and will look more masculine.

Due to its versatility and proximity to both warm and cold shades, lilac is suitable for decorating girls’ and boys’ rooms. If two children live in one room, such wallpaper will be one of the most successful options.

Study

To decorate the walls in this room, you should not use classic purple, as it does not promote rational thinking. But furniture in a dark shade of blackberry or blueberry is ideal for an office. In combination with white or gray finishing, the interior will be both strict and original.

Choosing makeup for a plum dress

Makeup should emphasize the beauty of the owner and go well with the chosen outfit. You should not apply it too pale or bright, it will spoil the overall impression and will be inappropriate. When choosing it for a plum-colored dress, you should adhere to certain recommendations:

  • It is necessary to focus on the lips and eyes.
  • The arrows on the eyes are perfect; it is better to choose a color of chocolate-golden, violet-lilac or black and white.
  • Use a natural foundation color and a delicate shade of blush.

If you use plum color, the photo shows an excellent combination of makeup for the dress.

Bedroom design with plum walls

Location: village. Komunarka, residential complex EdalgoInterior designer: Anna Ryazanova

Anna: This small bedroom belongs to a young married couple who, in principle, had no special preferences regarding the design of the bedroom, except, perhaps, the desire to make the color of the bedroom blue. However, during the work it turned out that the blue color of the walls and a small bedroom with modern furniture do not go well together, since the interior becomes too “cold” and, frankly speaking, looks more like an office than a cozy nest. After several meetings and a number of proposed options, the idea was born to try the purple color of the bedroom - this is what the customers chose.

I would like to note that this bedroom interior was not without zoning: due to lack of space in a small apartment, we came to the decision to combine the sleeping area with the work area. The difficulty was that the bedroom furniture, and especially the double bed, took up a considerable area, and there was simply nowhere physically to put a desk. Therefore, during the redevelopment, we came up with the idea of making a special niche to “sink” the work area into it. The wonderful design of the bedroom pleased the couple and did not stand out from the overall harmony of the interior. The dark color of the shelves and mini-table also played a significant role: strict and ascetic, they simultaneously define the office area and are combined in geometry with the lines of picture frames and the profile with which the cabinet is finished. In addition, shelves hidden in the wall do not take up space at all, do not catch the eye, and do not create a “pressing” feeling above your head, and this is important, given that the work area is located in the bedroom interior.

There were several reasons for using plum color in the bedroom. Firstly, this bedroom color has a calming and peaceful effect, which is extremely important for the bedroom interior. Secondly, light furniture looks advantageous against its background. A luxurious bed upholstered in white leather brings a special, unique chic to the bedroom design, and the built-in wardrobe, due to the glossy surface of the plastic doors, visually expands the boundaries of space, and the interior of the bedroom itself looks much more elegant thanks to the gloss. The trick with reflective surfaces is especially relevant if you have a small bedroom - just like this one.

It would seem: a small bedroom with dark-colored walls should shrink even more! In this case, the choice is justified by the fact that the floor and ceiling in the bedroom are white. A high white plinth and ceiling cornice, as elements of a classic style, soften the design of the bedroom and add a finished look to the room. Classic elements are extremely important, because modern furniture looks cheap and uncomfortable in small bedrooms. Thus, the bedroom style is defined by the word fusion.

Bedroom design always involves creating coziness, since, first of all, this room is intended for sleeping. Therefore, when it came to decorating the walls at the head of the bed, we opted for reproductions of Van Gogh’s painting “Starry Night”. This picture perfectly suits the mood for bedroom design. Then the idea arose to attach unusually shaped mirrors to the opposite wall. Rounded lines look softer. A large mirror in a bedroom interior is a traditional technique for expanding space. Framing mirrors is necessary in order to visually smooth out sharp edges, soften them, and add completeness.

The bedroom interior with low ceilings did not allow for flexibility in choosing an interesting lamp. In this case, a chandelier in the center of the interior would only get in the way, so we moved the pendant lights to the corner. The bedroom design only benefited from this: it became much more comfortable when the new light zone was outlined. To balance the composition, a beautiful table lamp was installed on the second bedside table. By the way, about bedside tables: even in such a seemingly trifle, you can trace the individuality of each of the customers, and without arguing, beat the situation when one spouse likes a modern style, while the other is impressed by a classic one.

The windows in the bedroom interior deserve special attention: there are two of them, which in itself is already a huge rarity. As you can see, the customers abandoned classic curtains in favor of Roman curtains, and acted wisely, since the cornice and folds required an additional 20-30 centimeters of valuable space, and visually made the already small bedroom smaller. To give the window openings a finished look, we framed them with white trim, and hid the heating radiators under a decorative grille. And again, we can say that the bedroom design only benefited, since we managed to achieve a feeling of airiness, spaciousness and lightness.

Choosing plum curtains and tulle for an apartment (9 photos)

If we talk about the latest fashion trends in the field of interior design, then today rich and rich shades of purple are at the peak of popularity. But most often plum shades are used in the interior of the living room, hall, and bedroom.

This color is somewhere between burgundy and purple. It is bright and rich, ripe and juicy, elegant and calm at the same time. Curtains of this color in the interior are a stylish element of decor that is difficult not to pay attention to. They attract attention and will not leave anyone indifferent; the main thing is to choose the right shade that will be most harmoniously combined with other details of the decor.

For which rooms are plum curtains ideal?

It should be borne in mind that plum color in the interior may not be used in all cases. For a small bedroom or a bright nursery, such curtains would be completely inappropriate. Such curtains will fit most harmoniously into the interior of the following rooms:

It is necessary to take into account that the color of a ripe plum has several shades: from the brightest and most saturated to pale and muted. Of course, the choice of shade for the curtains depends directly on other elements of the interior design. There is an unspoken rule here: dark tones are combined with light ones, muted ones with rich shades.

In no case should you allow the room decoration to be oversaturated with purple, since all the elements can merge into one spot.
