Modern society is overloaded with information, advertising, and our thoughts are always occupied with work and family problems. Where to look for rest and relaxation if not in your bedroom? The filling of a room plays an important role in how a person perceives it. Furniture sets the style of the room and its mood.

Features of color and its shades

White is truly a royal color: its perfection and unique ability to combine with absolutely any decor, not only complementing it, but often becoming an accent, the center of the composition. White cabinets in the interior will always be a winning solution, since they can fit into a variety of styles - from minimalism to classics. You can easily verify this by looking at numerous photos of design solutions.

The neutrality of white allows you to combine it with similar shades - gray, beige, and with bright, rich decor of blue, red, green, orange tones. In the first case, it will serve as an addition to the design (if there is a lot of it) or highlight the most attractive elements of the interior (if it is the only light-colored piece of decor). In the second case, a neutral color will serve as a background, emphasizing active shades and contrasting with them. Only blurry yellow is considered a not very successful combination.

White color is universal:

  • it adds light to a dark, sometimes even gloomy interior;
  • it visually enlarges a small space;
  • it looks harmonious in any room of the house - children's room, living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom;
  • it invariably attracts attention with its impeccability.

Designers are ready to argue with housewives who advocate for order at home that the white version or other light-colored furniture is impractical. Yes, stains on a white surface are immediately noticeable, so it is better to remove them immediately. But dust and fingerprints from not very clean fingers do not become noticeable immediately. This does not mean that cleaning is not necessary, but the white color of furniture is not a reason to clean it more often than with cabinets, tables, and sofas of other colors.

In order to still protect yourself from excessively “stained” white, you can consider furniture options in shades close to it: ivory, cream, mother-of-pearl, cream, linen, alabaster. More restrained, but no less beautiful, shades of white have the same universal properties.

How to choose a white wardrobe for the bedroom

To ensure that buying a white cabinet brings you pleasure, you should consider the following points:

  • Material. The ideal option would be a cabinet made of solid wood, but the price may not suit every buyer. Substitutes look good if the furniture is made with high quality, but their service life is much shorter.
  • Quality. Having made a choice in favor of a manufacturer, read reviews about the quality of its products. If possible, visit the store in person and evaluate the quality of the furniture produced for yourself.
  • Functionality. A regular closet has shelves for linen, drawers, a rod and a compartment for shoes. When ordering individually, you can choose any option according to your preferences.
  • Size. You should choose a closet according to the size of your bedroom, taking into account the area and location of other furniture.
  • Type. A hinged wardrobe is only suitable for a bedroom with a large space; for a small one it is better to choose a wardrobe.
  • Style. We choose a cabinet that matches the style of the entire interior; it must be combined with other furniture. If the blow fell on a white cabinet, but your interior does not have this color, then you should take a closer look at the color scheme (a cabinet with inserts in the same color as the bed).
  • Price. It is worth comparing the cost of a specific model from different manufacturers and choosing the one that suits you.

Varieties

White cabinets are suitable for furnishing almost all rooms of the house; the difference will only be in their functionality, size, and appearance.

  • for the kitchen, the most obvious option would be wall cabinets in which dishes, small household appliances, cereals, seasonings, and other small items are stored;
  • In the bedroom you cannot do without a wardrobe or wardrobe with hinged doors. The white surface of the cladding will add coziness to the room, harmonizing with light bed linen and a mirror on the dressing table, and frosted glass inserted into the doors will add restraint;
  • The children's room is an ideal place for both clothes and a bookcase in light colors. A white wardrobe in a nursery is responsible for a good mood, and also teaches the little owners of the room to maintain order;
  • It is better to equip the hallway with a sliding wardrobe, combined with open lower and upper shelves for storing shoes and hats, with mirrored doors. White cabinets are especially relevant for narrow hallways - with them the rooms will not seem completely tiny;
  • the living room, where everything should be conducive to a pleasant stay and ensure a good mood for the owners and guests, is a place where an open wardrobe in light shades with shelves and transparent doors will fit perfectly. It is best to fill shelves and open spaces with decorative trinkets (vases, figurines), flower arrangements, books, photographs.

Fantasy, a sense of style and photos of interiors will tell you which cabinet will be the best option for a particular room.

Design in different styles

Which new white cabinet to put in a particular room depends on many factors, one of which is the style of the furnishings. Snow-white furniture is often used in Scandinavian interiors or rooms decorated in a minimalist style. Usually these are designs of simple shapes with laconic facades and a lack of decor. The main emphasis is on functionality.

The situation is different with classic furniture, as well as models in Provence and shabby chic styles. The main feature is that all items are free-standing, on graceful figured legs. The height of such cabinets does not reach the ceiling. The facades are decorated with carved or applied decor, moldings, glass and mirror inserts, and luxurious fittings. If classic furniture has strict forms, then Provence and shabby chic styles may have smooth lines. They are also distinguished by aged, worn surfaces, which give the furniture a special charm.

The white cabinet in the Art Nouveau style looks original. It is characterized by smooth outlines and curves, sometimes so bizarre that the furniture becomes the main decoration of the room.

Manufacturing materials

When choosing a new cabinet in white or similar shades, there is no need to worry about the quality of the materials, since they are traditional for this type of furniture. This:

  • solid wood;
  • chipboard;
  • MDF;
  • Fiberboard;
  • Chipboard.

The desire to acquire a piece of furniture made of natural wood excludes pure white, but in this case you can choose light colors close to it - bleached oak, ash, birch, maple, hornbeam.

In other cases, the material of manufacture is not important, since for laminated facade cladding over particle boards, fiber boards, and MDF, white color is not a problem, as is the huge variety of its shades. A magnificent white glossy cabinet can decorate a chic living room, a formal office, or a children's room. White gloss is obtained in different ways. The surface can be made of:

  • PVC films;
  • acrylic plastic

Can be painted with glossy enamel. The last option is the most durable and beautiful.

Types of sliding wardrobe facades

The appearance of a white cabinet is determined not only by the color, but also by the shape of the facade. There are these options:

  • framed - the door leaf is enclosed in a metal frame. This prevents damage to the material, reduces wear and ensures durability. The frame is filled with glass, mirror, plastic, rattan, bamboo and other relatively fragile or soft materials;
  • frameless - only a regular vertical profile is attached to the sash, serving as a handle. This is a simple and cheap option. Filling: MDF, solid wood, chipboard, furniture board. A frameless door wears out faster;
  • radius facades are the most original design. The doors of complex shapes move along the same guides - concave or curved. The overall facade can have a certain shape - a hemisphere, a drop, or it can be a complex wave-like configuration. Radius wardrobes are incredibly beautiful and reliable, but they cost at least 2 times more.

The cost of a radius façade is determined by both the movement mechanism and the material. The most difficult thing is to give such a shape to a mirror door; for a long time this was impossible. Accordingly, a cabinet with mirrored fronts costs even more.

Different materials are used for facades. The design is influenced by both its character and the texture given to the material:

  • Chipboard or MDF - imitates white painted wood. The finish retains some wood grain. Usually matte, since gloss and texture do not combine well;
  • solid wood - in the classic style it is simply painted with matte white paint or varnish. Baroque facades can be coated with white glossy paint;
  • plastic - acrylic panels are light, durable, and are not afraid of moisture or temperature. The glossy surface emphasizes the purity and brightness of the shade;
  • glass - sandblasting gives it whiteness. However, more often the glass is decorated with ornaments obtained in this way;
  • mirror – white sashes are often combined with mirror ones. The mirror reflects light even better and mirrors the space, doubling its visual volume.

Both flat and radius facades can be made from any material.

Shape and style

It is up to the owners to decide which white wardrobe will be in the hallway, living room or office: some will want to emphasize the minimalist interior with strict forms and impressive height, others expect to add coziness by equipping the bedroom with a carved wardrobe on legs with an abundance of decorative elements. The shape and stylistic decision of a piece of furniture is determined by the taste of the home owners, as well as the functionality of the cabinet itself.

It is believed that white color is inherent in the Scandinavian style and minimalism - where monochrome looks most organic. The shape of the furniture has a minimum of bends and elaborate details, straight lines are preferred - the photo will help you decide on the most advantageous option.

In the styles of classicism, baroque, and shabby chic, a white cabinet, on the contrary, stands out for its decorative elements: carved doors and legs, moldings, glass and mirror inserts, and unusual handles. At the same time, the lines are not necessarily rounded or softened - the abundance of decor is balanced by the right angles of the base of the structure.

Light cabinets will easily fit into any ethnic style, except, perhaps, oriental. The restraint and weightlessness of the Japanese style will be emphasized by a low piece of furniture with a minimum of decor; in the African style, a tall and narrow white cabinet, on the contrary, can become the center of a compositional solution, and neither painting, nor mosaic inserts, nor vinyl stickers are prohibited. Design options for other styles can be seen in more detail in the photo.

In which interior styles is a white sliding wardrobe appropriate?

The choice is influenced in a certain way by the style, or more precisely, by its inherent color scheme:

  • classic - does not allow excess white. A wardrobe made of very light or bleached wood is suitable here;
  • Baroque - especially modern modifications accept white furniture decorated with gold ornaments and mirror inserts. Gloss and inlays are allowed;
  • For country and Provence, artificially aged facades are preferred. The colors are preferably warm;
  • minimalism uses a cold shade, since the latter visually enlarges the space. The color range of high-tech, techno, minimalism is very limited and white prevails in it. Here they combine different shades of white and different textures. Radius models are extremely effective;
  • Scandinavian – white color here acts as a universal background. A sliding wardrobe of the same shade is perceived as an architectural element of complex shape;
  • in Art Nouveau, the snow-white facade is combined with mirrors, wooden inserts, and brightly painted panels. However, no matter how good the imitation is, it does not harmonize with antique things.

How to fit into the interior

Harmonious and at the same time non-trivial interior design requires a thorough approach to the placement of furniture in light colors. To prevent the room from becoming like a hospital ward, you must follow simple rules for decorating the premises.

  • It is desirable that the closet is not the only white object. If this is not furniture of exactly the same shades, then the finishing materials of the walls and ceiling are darker than the color of the cabinet - they will help zone the room, highlighting the most interesting details;
  • You can dilute the whiteness with bright accents - inserts of a different color in the form of exquisite paintings on the bedroom closet, funny stickers on the surface of the children's doors, mirrored doors with sandblasting in the hallway (examples in the photo);
  • despite the fact that white has the effect of visually expanding space, it is undesirable to place a large cabinet in a narrow corridor or small hallway - in this case, even the color will not eliminate the feeling of lack of free space;
  • The more restrained the design of the cabinet, the more varied the decorative details of the rest of the interior can be, and the abundance of carved elements and unusual fittings, on the contrary, should be balanced by a minimum of decorations around.

Apron in a white kitchen with wood

This detail of the kitchen interior has a special function - protecting the walls from splashes of grease and water. But its significant role in the overall style of the kitchen cannot be denied. The materials for creating an apron can be glass, ceramic tiles, plastic, mosaic, wood and even stone.

The most commonly used materials are glass and tiles. It is these two materials that, with the right choice, allow you to maintain the light color scheme of the room and the style direction.

Using wood for an apron is one of the best options. The downside may be that caring for this design element is quite difficult.

Rules of care

Keeping light-colored cabinets clean is no more difficult than keeping furniture of other colors. Systematic cleaning of surfaces involves treating them with a damp cloth and then wiping with a dry one so that there are no streaks left. Dust on a white background is not always noticeable, but this does not mean that you can ignore the doors and side walls of the cabinet for a long time.

Yellow stains from grease accidentally splashed on the door of a kitchen cabinet require an immediate response. In this case, hot water will help, as well as the use of universal detergents. It is advisable to clean seized areas around handles and in corners as soon as they become noticeable.

Particular attention should be paid to glossy white surfaces. Despite the fact that manufacturers, taking care of the ease of use of furniture, impregnate the surfaces of cabinets and other furniture with special compounds that protect against various types of contamination, stains, streaks and stains still periodically appear on the gloss. It is strictly prohibited to treat such surfaces with products containing abrasive substances - the cabinet will literally be streaked with small scratches, which are very difficult to get rid of. Moreover, dirt and dust will quickly accumulate in the recesses that appear, further disfiguring the appearance of the furniture. To prevent the unpleasant consequences of too intensive cleaning, it is better to clean more often, but with soft, gentle means.

A white wardrobe is the ideal solution for fans of elegant style. The functionality of this piece of furniture, combined with its visual appeal, allows it to be used in any room in the apartment.

Wood texture work surface

The texture of the working surface depends on the financial capabilities of the buyer of the kitchen. It is made from chipboard with a laminated wood finish, natural wood and stone.

The first type is a standard offer from manufacturers of furniture sets. The second type is made by the client himself according to an individual order. The main difference between these countertops is not only the use of natural material and the difference in price. First of all, it is the appearance, which can emphasize the elegance and uniqueness of the interior. A perfectly polished work surface, an enlarged window sill, a bar counter or a table top made of oak, beech, or ash attract the eye, decorate and perfectly support the created image of an expensive white kitchen. Although it should be recalled that such surfaces require special attention and care.

In terms of practicality, chipboard wins. It goes well with white, provided it is used in doses in the interior. Inexpensive and quite a good selection.

White and wood kitchen surfaces can be paired with natural or faux stone work areas in a wide range of colors to complement wood countertops.
