Corner computer desk in the interior - 90 photos of fashionable new products

Often people who are designing their future home or workplace want to combine both external beauty and functionality in the interior. And the important element here is the table. After all, there are many examples of how a corner computer desk becomes not just a workplace, but a corner of rare design art.

Nowadays, such tables are becoming more and more common, and this is not without reason: they are beautiful, perform a wide range of functions and are comfortable, and these are only the most important advantages thanks to which they gain popularity. It is worth noting that they look great both in a modern business center and in a schoolchild or student’s room, although in appearance they may differ in just a couple of little things. As an important piece of furniture, it can tell a lot about its owner, for example, revealing details of his character or highlighting his love for calm, curved lines.

The corner desktop has other useful qualities, such as:

  • Expanding the space around you. Nowadays it’s difficult to imagine a desk without a special compartment for a computer and, quite often, other gadgets are paired with it: MFP, camera, speakers and more. However, due to the fact that the computer is visually located in a niche, it does not take up extra space and the surface can serve for other purposes while remaining free.
  • Minimizes damage to vision. The table is designed in such a way that the distance from the eyes to the monitor is as wide as possible and safer than other tables.
  • The feeling of security that prevails when you work at this table is as if the structure is enveloping you.

What types of tables are there?

Regardless of how special a design solution a particular table may seem, it is based on one of two types of user placement, namely either perpendicular or diagonal. The differences between them can be understood from their names: with the diagonal one, the person sits facing the corner of the room, with the perpendicular one, the person sits facing the wall. Based on this, constructions are also divided into two types, this is simply diagonal and a derivative of the previous one - diagonal-perpendicular construction.

As for the first type...

Its distinguishing feature is its compactness. With the help of just such a design, it is easy to organize a workspace even in a room where it would seem “there is nowhere for an apple to fall”, because for this you just need to free up a square in the corner, and you don’t need a large strip near the wall. But you have to pay for this with relatively little functionality, for example, in such tables there are few drawers, and if you place such a table near the window (which is necessary when filling a room for a student), then the table extensions need to be made small, so as not to appear barriers to sunlight.

Also, think in advance about whether the table will have a cabinet and a stand for the system unit, because, as practice shows, in this case, a sitting person has nowhere to put his feet, which makes working at such a table uncomfortable and tiring.

What about the second type, namely diagonal-perpendicular

Compared to its brother, this design takes up more space, but if you place it next to any other table, it becomes obvious that its functionality and ergonomics are much higher. Firstly, the corner niche adds a lot of space that can be occupied, and secondly, there is space for drawers, shelves and other add-ons. Nowadays, manufacturers surprise with their ingenuity, as evidenced by the possibility of combining a computer desk with various shelves or even racks.

This type of table is optimal if you often work at the computer, but also write something: it is very easy to switch between these types of activities. As they say, you breathe and work lightly.

Design flaws

Of course, corner computer tables, like all corner furniture, have their drawbacks:

  • one of the main disadvantages is that this model can only be placed in a corner, otherwise it will look ugly, spoiling the entire interior of the room;
  • It is not always possible to place such a table near a window and then the constant use of additional lighting will be required;
  • If a computer desk is taken for a child, then it must be taken into account that it is not transformable and does not have mechanisms for adjusting the tabletop. Therefore, it cannot be adjusted to the height of a preschooler or elementary school student;
  • most tables are made of MDF and therefore their use as dining tables is unacceptable, as this will lead to rapid deterioration of the decorative covering;
  • Many models have a blind compartment for the system unit. As a result of lack of ventilation, equipment may malfunction;
  • a working person sits with his back to others, which is not entirely pleasant;
  • the cost of corner computer desks is several orders of magnitude higher than that of classic models;
  • Despite its seemingly small size, this model is very inconvenient for rearranging during repairs.

Which direction should I choose?

The most affordable option is, of course, MDF/chipboard. Outwardly, it is in no way inferior to wood, but in terms of price it gives it a big head start. However, when choosing such a material, you should immediately pay due attention to the edge, because if it is glued carelessly, then the furniture may lose its beautiful appearance in the next month or two.

Wood furniture is a classic. You can choose the breed that you like, even a very rare one, which will create a special coziness. And with careful care, such furniture can serve not only you, but also your children and great-grandchildren.

Tables made of metal look very stylish and impressive, but this is often not a home solution, because it will not add comfort, but will only cool the overall atmosphere. But for offices this is a very good choice, because such furniture calms you down and helps you get ready for work.

Glass structures are used in new types of interiors, such as high-tech. They also help add minimalism and are great for small spaces.

Materials for production

Chipboard is mainly used for manufacturing. Since this is the most inexpensive and at the same time convenient to use material. But you can find corner computer tables made of glass and wood, which are a real decoration of the interior. Stylish models of corner tables made of metal structures, which have recently appeared on the furniture market, are also very popular.

Chipboard and MDF

The most common models are made from the following materials:

  • Chipboard or particle board is the most common material for making all types of office desks. It is easy to give the desired shape, it is easy to process and has a low price. To give the product an aesthetic appearance, it is covered with veneer or decorative film. However, the use of formaldehyde resins in the manufacture of chipboards makes this type of material unsuitable for the production of children's things from it. Therefore, a corner computer desk made of chipboard is best installed in offices;
  • MDF is also compressed wood, but more harmless to the human body. Products made from it are somewhat more expensive than models made from chipboard. It conveys the wood grain, has a large selection of colors, is easy to process, and is a moisture-resistant material. The downside is that the screw connections are not very reliable.

MDF Chipboard
Both materials are successfully used in the manufacture of corner computer tables and have similar qualities. When choosing models made from these materials, you need to proceed from the room in which the product will be used and who will work behind it. It is better to take computer tables for children from MDF. And for the study and office, you can take cheaper options from chipboard.

Glass

Models made of glass look original in any work area, perfectly complementing a variety of styles. The use of glass models allows you to visually expand the space and give the interior lightness. Despite their apparent fragility, these tables can withstand the impact of household appliances and have a high level of strength. They are environmentally friendly. Their only disadvantage is their high price. You can see what corner computer desks made of glass look like in the photo.

Tree

To produce tables from solid natural wood, high-quality, well-dried boards or stacked boards made from individual pieces joined with glue are used. All furniture made from natural wood is capricious and requires due attention.

A computer desk whose round wooden section of the table top is not coated with a sufficient amount of varnish will quickly lose its appearance. But corner tables, made using natural wood, are environmentally friendly and stylish. A corner table made of such material is an expensive, sophisticated thing that will not suit every design and therefore you need to carefully weigh the pros and cons of this choice.

Metal

These models look very stylish, but are more suitable for offices than apartments. Cold metal will not create a feeling of comfort, but it will look good in a production environment. Most often, such products have metal sides and legs. Most countertops are made of MDF or glass. Very rarely there are options with a metal tabletop. They have bright colors and are durable.

It is necessary to check how well the metal parts are coated with anti-corrosion paint.

Additions to the table

Modern technologies make it possible to create exactly the computer desk you dreamed of, and this is expressed in the smallest details. You can discuss any issue with the measurers and choose exactly the option that best suits your space and meets your desires.

Among other things, you can choose some additions from cabinets, assorted drawers, wall cabinets or add-ons.

Color solutions

As for color solutions, here it is better for you to consult with your child, listen to his wishes and preferences. There is no single advice here. You can choose a table based on the single concept of the room.

For romantic girls, mainly white and pink shades are popular. They love peach, as well as refreshing lemon and cucumber colors. The main thing is that it is your favorite shade and brings only pleasure.

For boys, you can choose a table in a more restrained style. Among the shades, the colors of natural wood, gray, dark blue, and beige may predominate. If this is a child of primary school, then you can purchase a table in more joyful colors.

However, it is worth remembering that too bright colors can distract the child from assignments and studies. It is better to buy calm tones or even stick to white and beige tones. They will be optimal in any case.

If you selected the add-on

This is a good addition to the workplace, where you can leave various little things or gadgets and which will be within easy reach. Perfect for storing notebooks, photographs and other small things. It is worth noting that if the table is located near the window, then there is no need to block natural light with the superstructure. It is also important that such an addition is only suitable if the free surface on the table is not used, for example, if you do not work on anything other than a computer or laptop.

Dimensions

When choosing a model for your child, you should pay special attention to the size. The length of the tabletop will be optimal - at least one meter. This way, the child will be able to sit comfortably and comfortably at the table during classes, and his elbows will be apart while writing. As for the width of the tabletop, it should be 60-80 centimeters. This way the student will feel comfortable.

As for the height of the table, it can be determined in different ways. When the child is sitting, the tabletop should be located in the solar plexus area. If you place your hands on the table, your shoulders should remain at their natural height. From the knee to the tabletop there should be approximately 10-15 centimeters.

If you choose the right size table for your child, he will not only be comfortable sitting and studying, but his posture will also develop correctly. But health is the most important thing for a growing organism.

With your own hands

The very first step in designing any table should be a clear understanding of where it will be located. If this is a desk for a schoolchild, then it is preferable to choose a place by the window, so that the light falls either from the left or directly.

If this is a computer desk, then it should not be located near heating objects, otherwise there is a risk of early breakdown of the equipment. It is also worth worrying in advance about the availability of sockets so that there is enough for all the equipment. One should not lose sight of the presence of cables, which often get tangled underfoot, and cords. To resolve this issue, preset the wire holes.

Modern software allows you to build not only a drawing, but also model it and show in three-dimensional format what the table with all the adjacent parts will look like. In addition to this, there is an information base with which you can calculate the dimensions of the table with all its add-ons, taking into account all its features, no matter how complex the design.

The height of the table can be “roughly” calculated based on the height of the potential user, namely using the formula: table height = height * 3/7. Thus, depending on a person’s height, three groups can be distinguished:

  1. Height 150 cm, height 64 cm
  2. Height 175 cm, height 75 cm
  3. Height 190 cm, height 81 cm

Important when designing are the parameters of the future user, his chair (or armchair) and all the equipment that will be on the table. One of the decisive factors is also the size of the tabletop, because it should be calculated so that it covers all the cabinets and drawers.

When thinking about the structure of your table, pay attention to the possibility of creating both clear lines that emphasize practicality and smooth shapes that promote relaxation. Color plays an important role: you need to choose from the general range very carefully so that the table fits perfectly into the existing interior and is, if not a highlight, then definitely an irreplaceable part of it. This can be done through monotony or, conversely, by combining several shades or even completely different colors. But there is no doubt that the table you choose will organically fit into the surrounding space.
