Neoclassicism in the interior of the hallway - extraordinary embodiments in apartment design

The classic continues to be a relevant design over the years. It never goes out of style and looks fresh and beautiful in any room. If you want to add a little modernity, then a neoclassical hallway is perfect. Such a solution will help highlight the positive aspects of the room and hide the shortcomings.

Hallway design in neoclassical style.

Lighting

The ceiling chandelier is one of the most noticeable details of the interior, so in neoclassicism it is most often exquisite, quite large and 100% classic.
In this style, lighting fixtures play the role of a mediator between eras - a beautiful curved chandelier or sconce with many branches and an abundance of glass or crystal shades in most cases is the connecting link between modern and classic design. In addition to being decorative, such a lamp also plays an important practical role - it fills the room with light and helps the prevailing gray smoky shades of the interior become warmer and more comfortable.

Sometimes, if a large number of other details in a classic style are provided, simpler and less eye-catching lamps are used, or even hidden ceiling lighting is used.

Country style hallway interior

Country and Provence styles are somewhat similar to each other: both have rustic motifs. But there is a difference, and it is significant: country style has no nationality, it accepts provincial motifs of any people, while Provence has references exclusively to the southeast of France. A country-style hallway should be cozy, soulful and not pretentious. Among the style features:

  • abundance of wood, stone, wicker decorations;
  • complete absence of pure white color;
  • floral and animalistic patterns;
  • absence of artificial materials such as plastic or linoleum;
  • solid wooden furniture;
  • curtains and rugs with simple patterns - stripes, checks, polka dots.

Materials and design

Neoclassicism in the interior is softer and more flexible in relation to materials, compared to the demanding classical styles. Here you can use simple types of wood, decorative stone, and even combine natural materials with artificial ones.

Floor finishing

The traditional solution for flooring is parquet or parquet boards, which come straight from the classics. But you can replace them with a more practical and unpretentious laminate that imitates an artistic coating. For functional rooms, stone, ceramic tiles, and porcelain stoneware are suitable.

Ceiling design

Ideal neoclassical ceilings are smooth white: regular paint or single-level stretch fabric. Choose a matte or satin texture, although in a small room you can even benefit from gloss. There are neat molded thresholds along the edges, and a decorative rosette around the chandelier.

Wall decoration

Walls in neoclassical interiors are decorated with moldings and panels with simple shapes and lines. An alternative option is wallpaper or companion wallpaper in neutral shades, plain or with floral motifs.

Curtains and textiles

Neoclassical interiors use predominantly natural fabrics

But instead of jacquard and tapestry, pay attention to thick cotton, linen, and mixed fabrics. They are not only cheaper, but also much more convenient to use and maintain. Decorative compositions from drapes and curtains in neoclassical style are lighter and more laconic than in the classical style

Lambrequins are appropriate, but simple rectangular or rounded on top of thick floor-length curtains. If you want to lay a carpet, do not choose covering the entire floor: 2-2.5 meters along the long side is enough. Clear, contrasting geometric patterns will make the room more modern. And classic blurry ornate patterns are suitable for lovers of more traditional solutions.

Characteristic features of the interior

Decorating objects and walls using decorative stucco molding and panels.

Key interior features include:

  1. Symmetry, harmony of the entire decoration;
  2. The predominance of natural materials both in finishing and in details for decoration;
  3. Creating a holistic image of the room. This can be achieved thanks to a unified palette and well-chosen finishing materials;
  4. Light warm colors;
  5. The decorative details are rich, complemented by carvings, gilding, and stucco;
  6. The use of massive furniture pieces with bent or spherical legs;
  7. The presence of patterns in the form of flowers or geometric lines;
  8. Use of classical paintings and tapestries.

Finishing walls, ceilings and floors: options for laconic solutions for a kitchen in a neoclassical style

Finishing in the neoclassical style requires a clear alignment of all surfaces and their alignment according to the design. It is best to use natural materials for decoration, although environmental plastic is now actively used, which fits organically into the interior.

In a neoclassical interior, finishing materials are precisely those details that remind us that this is still the same classic, just in a modern way

Floor

The ideal material for flooring is wood. This is both classic parquet and laminate wood panels. For those who are especially sophisticated, there is a wide parquet board with an imitation of the pattern of valuable tree species. Sometimes natural stone is used - marble, granite.

Ceramics, stone or wood - the choice depends on your taste and wallet. However, under no circumstances should you use carpet or linoleum.

Walls

The simplest and most inexpensive way to decorate walls is to apply light plaster. Another way is to stick light wallpaper and paint it one color. There are small floral patterns and wide stripes on the walls. When choosing wallpaper, you need to choose paper or paintable options.

Wall decoration in a neoclassical interior excludes bright and flashy colors

The kitchen apron is decorated with ceramic tiles with a geometric pattern or a slight floral print. Sometimes designers decorate the lower part of the wall with wallpaper or paint of a darker color; textured plaster is also suitable.

For an apron, the best coating would be ceramic tiles or artificial stone.

Another option is to decorate the walls with wooden panels or imitation wood.

Ceiling

Basically, designers are advised to install a two-level ceiling with a central niche of a clear rectangular shape; you can make a round shape. If the ceiling is low, it is worth highlighting the work area with a baguette. The top can also be highlighted with wooden panels that divide the ceiling into even rectangular parts; stucco decoration is suitable.

Using a two-level ceiling, you can divide the kitchen into a work area and a place to relax

The ideal color for this style is white, close to the tone of the walls. In neoclassicism, the use of suspended ceilings, both matte and glossy, is not excluded.

Design features

This direction in design is characterized by a more free approach to the choice of finishes, furnishings and the use of technical solutions. Therefore, you can decorate the interior of the hallway for less money, and it will still look luxurious, albeit without ostentatious luxury. In general, this design is characterized by:

  • The absence of excessive arrogance and pretentiousness in decoration.
  • Preference is given to calm pastel tones and colors.
  • The absence of unnecessary details and bends, strict geometric shapes of all components of the interior.
  • Mainly natural materials combined with the most modern finishing solutions.
  • Using the latest models of equipment, lamps, and so on.
  • An abundance of decor and architectural elements - stucco moldings, moldings or various types of columns.
  • Compliance with the laws of symmetry when placing furniture.
  • Some minimalism in the setting, without reducing its functionality.
  • Maximum free space

Following these recommendations is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. At the same time, the possibility of using imitations of natural materials significantly reduces the overall renovation budget, although it will still remain very large, since the interior components must be chosen of the highest quality, and therefore expensive.

Bedroom

For the bedroom interior, choose a neutral palette that adds airiness to the room. They adhere to zoning rules, that is, doorways are replaced with arches, decorated with columns and half-columns with antique patterns. The number of household appliances is kept to a minimum.

Neoclassicism involves finishing the ceiling with a stretched glossy or matte fabric. You can paint it with milky paint, after dividing it into rectangles with panels.

The floors are covered with parquet or design boards, ceramic tiles. It is a mistake to lay linoleum or carpet on the floors, which create an appearance of savings.

The interior assumes the main role of illumination - the sun's rays from large windows are complemented by soft artificial lighting.

According to the laws of neoclassicism, a large crystal chandelier is hung in the center of the ceiling, and wall lamps are installed at different levels of the walls to illuminate every object in the room. Expensive lampshades of a calm palette are selected for floor lamps. Furniture is arranged symmetrically; paired armchairs, bedside tables or poufs look interesting.

We hang a crystal chandelier in the center of the ceiling

Furniture arrangement:
  • The central part of the bedroom interior is reserved for a double rectangular bed made of precious wood. The furniture will be decorated with handmade carvings; floral patterns are chosen. You can hang a canopy made of heavy fabric over the sleeping area. Silk or velvet is used to cover the headboard. The bed is placed along the room, avoiding a transverse position.
  • Bedside tables with lamps are placed on both sides of the headboard.
  • A dressing table with a pouf is placed near the bed. A pouf with a table is selected to match the interior; the use of contrasting colors is unacceptable.

The bed takes center stage

  • The remaining pieces of furniture are placed along the walls. It is recommended to place a low sofa near the window and surround the coffee table with chairs or armchairs. Choose bedspreads, curtains and upholstery of the same color.
  • Tall cabinets are placed separately or built-in. Neoclassicism suggests decorating cabinet doors with mirror or glass surfaces.
  • Large window openings are covered with expensive curtains with lambrequins.
  • The center of the room is covered with a soft fleecy carpet.

The idea of a neoclassical interior is to make a mirror finish on the walls with floral patterns. One large mirror in a gilded frame will add airiness to the room and expand the room. Marble floors or natural stone wall decoration will transform the bedroom.

A mirror will add airiness to the room

The desire to decorate a bedroom in a neoclassical interior is thought through in detail. First, they make a list of comfortable furniture and decide on materials for finishing and decoration. Excessive pomposity will spoil the impression of the room, so keep it in moderation.

Hallway interior in loft style

Fans of industrial chic will appreciate the loft-style hallway, which is firmly entrenched in interior trends and, it seems, is not going to leave them. It is best to implement this style in spacious rooms: in modern city apartments, the hallway can be part of the living room. Distinctive features of the loft style:

  • abundance of concrete, brick, iron elements;
  • minimum textiles, no draperies;
  • bright lighting, lots of wires;
  • brutal wooden or metal furniture;
  • dominance of white, black, brown, gray, terracotta colors.

The loft style in the hallway is emphasized by a massive floor hanger.

Finishing

An important difference between neoclassicism lies in the finishing materials used. Instead of an expensive and impractical base, you can use drywall, polyurethane and other modern analogues that are acceptable within the boundaries of the style

Floor

Natural wood covering remains timeless and serves as a universal solution for any color scheme. In demanding rooms it can be replaced with laminate or parquet boards.

In non-residential spaces, porcelain stoneware or large floor tiles that imitate the structure of marble look luxurious. For a living room where you need to emphasize comfort, you can buy carpet.

Walls

Light walls in pastel shades compensate for the average size of the home. In addition to painting, which will look faded without moldings, it is recommended to use wallpaper with a fine pattern. These can be textile, non-woven or paper varieties if you plan to change the design in a few years.

The wooden panels framing the lower part of the room look authentic - they visually outline it and give it severity.

Ceiling

In the neoclassical style, you cannot do without decorating the ceiling along the perimeter with a ceiling plinth. The surface must be smooth, without imperfections or patterns. Tensile or plasterboard structures will not only hide unevenness, but also help implement interesting ideas.

Finishing materials in neoclassicism

A distinctive feature of modern classics is that natural materials can coexist with plastic. Innovative technologies are used in the interiors. Artificial materials can be used for finishing, but they must accurately imitate the natural texture.

Walls

Neoclassical interior design depends on what the owner of the room wants to get as a result. Decorative plaster or painting is used to decorate the walls. Wallpapering is allowed, including those with strict geometric patterns.

Among the modern materials used in neoclassicism, metallized tiles are noted. Sometimes designers resort to decorating walls with mirror or glass panels. For the kitchen and bathroom you should choose marble tiles or porcelain tiles.

Ceiling and floor

The ceiling can be simple or multi-level. Paint is used for finishing. The interior of apartments in the neoclassical style provides a perfectly flat surface. Usually it is left white or made light beige. Tensile structures can be used in interiors. Matte or glossy surfaces can be used.

Multi-level ceilings are made using plasterboard. Installation of decorative elements on the surface is not recommended. However, non-standard lighting may be used.

Parquet boards or laminate are laid on the floor. A feature of neoclassicism is that there is no restriction on the use of artificial materials. The only condition is that they must be of high quality. For finishing it is recommended to take such types of wood as: oak, ash, rosewood, etc.

For finishing, parquet boards or laminate are used, which qualitatively imitate a wooden surface. In the kitchen, dining room, and hallway, the wooden floor can be replaced with porcelain stoneware or polished stone.

Windows and doors

Neoclassicism is ideal for spacious rooms. Owners of country houses are recommended to install panoramic windows. If the interior is being done in a city apartment, then wide window sills should be used.

Doors are installed from natural wood or veneer. Glass or stained glass inserts are allowed in the canvases. For the bedroom you should choose a solid closed door. The canvases may contain carved elements.

Classic furniture is most often installed in living rooms, since this room is intended for receiving guests and should embody beauty and comfort. It is advisable not to buy individual elements, but to purchase an ensemble that will be united by one color, pattern and texture. A massive dressing table, an elegant table with twisted legs, armchairs and a large sofa, a wall that covers the entire wall.

  • Wall cabinets;
  • Mirrors in antique frames;
  • Pencil cases;
  • Cabinets.

For the hallway

Often, it is from the hall that one begins to get acquainted with the interior of an apartment, and you need to choose furniture in a classic style in such a way that the first impression of guests is unforgettable. In order to furnish the hallway in a classic style, you can use the following pieces of furniture:

  • A wardrobe with hinged doors is traditional hallway furniture. If there is no space to install such a design, you can limit yourself to a corner wardrobe with mirrored doors, decorated with wood carvings or antique fittings;
  • Hangers are not only a significant piece of furniture on which clothes are stored, but also an accessory that can transform the interior. Classic style hangers are forged items with elegant ornaments or items made of carved wood;
  • A cabinet with a mirror or dressing table is furniture suitable for small spaces. It can be decorated with a beautiful mirror on elegant legs, as well as a trellis in elegant frames;

For kitchen

These are sets and dining areas made using elegant decorative elements. Currently, many people prefer to install light neoclassical style furniture in their kitchen space. In addition to a table with chairs, built-in kitchen furniture, a kickstand can be installed here, as well as a cabinet in which a refrigerator and other equipment is hidden.

For children's

Classic furniture for the nursery is safe products made from natural materials that will give comfort and warmth to the baby’s room. This design style is used if the child and parents cannot come to a common denominator when choosing the direction for decorating the room.

For the office

In a library or office, monumental furniture made in dark colors is used: a massive table, a large chair, a leather sofa, a secretary against the backdrop of heavy curtains and light walls will look great. The main distinguishing feature of any furniture made in the classic style is beauty coupled with convenience and functionality.

Laconic decor and a minimum of accessories in neoclassical style

Decor and accessories are used in minimal quantities. Neoclassicism does not like pretentiousness. Figurines, paintings, and mirrors are used to decorate the premises. Stucco molding is allowed on the walls. When planning the interior of an apartment or house, it is important that there is not too much decor. It should focus attention on certain places, but not oversaturate the space.

Interior of a wooden house

The neoclassical style will especially appeal to fans of minimalism, since space in light colors visually increases the area of any room.

The main condition for consistency in the neoclassical style will be a symmetrical composition of the interiors of each room, elegant furniture in the Napoleonic Empire style, Greco-Roman columns, pilasters, friezes, candelabra and chandeliers.

Choose warm and cool colors, but be careful not to disturb the harmony. If you use warm colors and shades in the interior of the main elements of furniture, floors, and walls, then accents should be made with colors of cool shades. For example, if the furniture and flooring are brown, then use caramel or gray shades for the walls. This will be especially good for small rooms on the north side of the house.

Important! Under no circumstances use lemon, light green, acrid pink, or bright yellow tones. You should limit yourself to 2-3 shades

Colonial motifs are also a prerequisite for most houses created in the English style. A tradition dating back to the Middle Ages requires the presence of a hearth, stove or fireplace in a large house, which will create special coziness and comfort. In modern apartment conditions, you can install an artificial fireplace, finished, for example, with specially aged brick or stripes.

Each piece of furniture should harmoniously complement each other's luxury

It is very important not to disturb the harmony of style

If you decide to give preference to the neoclassical style, do not skimp on the little things. This style does not give in to the whims of fashion, and elite materials for decoration and furniture will serve you for decades.

Hallway interior in Provence style

The corridor, the interior design of which is made in the Provence style, is suitable for those who love light, airy, friendly and homely simple interiors. This style is revealed in detail: like the Scandinavian style, Provence welcomes light shades, space and light. However, it also has several important differences:

  • the interior should contain vintage or artificially aged furniture;
  • Provence is dominated by natural materials, living plants and floral prints;
  • natural wood or laminate that imitates natural texture is used as flooring;
  • the ceiling is decorated using whitewash or plaster; beams or false beams can be used as decorative elements;
  • The style of the hallway is emphasized by wicker boxes for storing clothes and shoes;
  • style welcomes forged products, but it is better to refuse chrome surfaces.

Neoclassical style in interior design photo

To decorate a home in the neoclassical style, it is necessary not only to understand the basic subtleties of the direction, but also its capabilities within a certain space.

Kitchen design in neoclassical style

There is no need to worry that in a kitchen with a dangerous microclimate you will have to give up aesthetics. Modern materials that can be used in neoclassicism will cope perfectly with high temperatures, humidity and all types of pollution. This could be ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware as wall cladding close to the work area, washable wallpaper and leather upholstered seats.

A U-shaped or parallel kitchen set painted in light shades is ideal, but more compact models will also look appropriate. In order not to overload the interior with decor, you can purchase several cabinets with glazed facades that display beautiful tableware. If the space allows, you should allocate a separate room for the dining room.

Living room design in neoclassical style

Whether classic “old” or “new”, the living room is the main center of the house, where guests gather and spend time in a favorable environment. Owners who take a responsible approach to design often resort to redevelopment of premises to expand the walls of the hall, allowing in more space.

But it’s not just size that determines comfort. The compositional center of the living room in the neoclassical style is the sofa, which forms a kind of island in the interior. Usually next to it there are several armchairs, an ottoman and a coffee table. Opposite is a bookcase with a built-in TV screen. Ideally, if there is a fireplace in the room, it will become the main decoration of the room.

Bedroom design in neoclassical style

The main object in the bedroom rightfully remains the bed, which should be large, soft and comfortable. This choice will affect not only the quality of sleep, but also the appearance of the room, which sometimes resembles a personal fortress. In this case, the wall to which the bed is adjacent is distinguished by finishing material or decorative elements.

The color palette is light, natural and pleasing to the eye. There are pastel shades here that only enhance the peaceful atmosphere. The layout may include several seats - a sofa, ottoman or armchair, where it is pleasant to relax while reading an interesting book. In addition to a chest of drawers with classic notes, the room where the hostess lives often has a dressing table.

Bathroom design in neoclassical style

A traditional bathroom is a spacious room that resembles a separate living room. But in the neoclassical style, here you can limit yourself to more modest requests.

Against the backdrop of tiled walls, a bathtub with curved legs looks beautiful, which can act as a compositional center. If you want to fit a shower stall into the bathroom, then you should allocate a place for it in the corner, equipping it with all the necessary plumbing. Modern cabin models would be out of place.

Hallway design in neoclassical style

The design of the hallway depends on the layout: if it flows into the living area, you need to build on the design of the room, and if it flows into the corridor, you can focus on restrained visual content.

When finishing, you should pay attention to materials that can be cleaned - porcelain stoneware, ceramic tiles, washable wallpaper. Then light colors that will expand the hallway will not become an obstacle to cleanliness

In such a corridor there may be a table with a mirror, a wardrobe, an ottoman for changing shoes and a hanger.

Design of a children's room in neoclassical style

A bedroom for children in a neoclassical style will help to instill in them a sense of beauty and good taste. Typically, such spaces are focused on the gender of the child, but designers recommend avoiding stereotypical colors or attributes, focusing on neutral, high-quality items.

The finish should be durable and environmentally friendly, so you can buy non-woven wallpaper that allows air to pass through. The pastel range, rich in shades, will create a fabulous, childish mood and have a calming effect on your child.

Furniture should have no sharp corners and provide the child with access to the things he needs. Not only toys, but also a variety of textile decorations will serve as decor: airy curtains, canopy curtains, colorful bed linen.

Color solution

Light pastel colors for the hallway interior.

Neoclassicism is characterized by the use of warm colors in a light palette. Suitable colors include:

  • Brown in any interpretation;
  • Red is predominantly dark tones;
  • Dark green color scheme;
  • Bronze and cherry color;
  • Creamy, beige shades.

Hallway design in gray tones, neoclassical style.

Hallway design in brown tones, neoclassical style.

Light colors and bright decor in the hallway interior.

It is acceptable to use a light gray color. The range should look noble and elegant. A successful combination is to combine white or light colors with gold.

This style does not accept sharp and bright contrasts. The corridor should reflect integrity, be uniform in everything, from the palette to the accessories.

Living room interior

The living room should not be pretentious or flashy luxury. Exceptionally strict design, calm colors, clean lines. Whereas in furnishing it is permissible to use sophisticated chic. It is expressed by expensive upholstery materials and classic shapes of armchairs, sofas, poufs, chests of drawers, sideboards. No wardrobes, all furniture should be visually light and elegant.

The main idea that characterizes the neoclassical style of the living room is a clear center of the room, smooth symmetrical lines of interior items that complement and enhance this feeling.

Walls

  • the most common wall color is creamy, creamy, beige, light gray shades, successfully emphasized by white stucco molding and baseboards;
  • if you decide to make the lower part of the wall a dark color, then the upper part can be framed with classic white stucco; in the middle the wall can be decorated with wooden panels;
  • columns may well be reflected in stands, armrests, racks and cabinet ends.

Lighting

  • in order to emphasize diffused, matte lighting that will be evenly distributed over the entire surface of the room, it is best to use a large number of sconces, recessed spotlights and pendant lamps installed at different levels. Light bulbs in the form of candles and lampshades in pastel, light colors are also well suited;
  • The number of lights you install in a room is directly related to the size of your room. For a large living room, 2 or 3 identical chandeliers on the ceiling will be enough, and if the room is small, one lamp in the middle of the room and two sconces, which can be placed, for example, on both sides of the mirror, are enough.

Furniture

It will look good in sophisticated colors of dark wood or chocolate; light leather upholstery is also appropriate, which will go well with wooden decor.

Windows and doors

  • use curtains with several layers of elegant drapery. The color must be selected based on the predominant color of the furniture, for example, based on the tone of the upholstery of a sofa or armchairs;
  • if possible, replace doors with arched openings.

design always implies high ceilings and spaciousness;

Accessories

  • The style is loyal to natural as well as artificial flowers. Create a bright, chic bouquet of your favorite flowers, and you won’t need any additional decorations for your living room;
  • Do not overload the room with unnecessary decorations. Floor vases in combination with lush bouquets and a large number of columns are not appropriate here.

The living room is a place for pleasant meetings with loved ones, family, and friends, so it should provide comfort for everyone present.

High-tech style in the interior - 25 inspiring photos

Furniture and decor items

Neoclassical style of furniture is elegance, beauty and comfort, collected in one single piece. When planning the furnishings, it is necessary to take into account the size of the room. It is recommended to take measurements and also draw up a layout diagram so that when ordering or purchasing sets you can clearly observe the proportions.

Pretentious elements will look like foreign bodies in the interior. Too large specimens will reduce the space; small ones will not be able to give the room a respectable appearance.

The main features that determine the style include the following nuances:

  • curved legs of tables, bureaus, cabinets, armchairs, sofas give the furniture an elegant aristocratic look;
  • tall bookcases, chests of drawers, banquettes will be a worthy addition to the overall decor;
  • strict symmetrical shapes;
  • minimalist and discreet decor.

The upholstery of upholstered furniture should match the color palette of the room. For pillows, you should choose pillowcases in pastel colors with floral patterns or the same geometric shapes.

Decorative and decorative-functional elements must be installed in the rooms. For example:

  • Grandfather Clock;
  • fireplace;
  • paintings;
  • sculptures (bronze, plaster);
  • vases with fresh flowers (the neoclassical style does not withstand artificial plants).

All items should be in their place, not overload the space, and place emphasis on certain areas.

Sofas and armchairs

It is preferable to purchase upholstered furniture with rounded (oval) backs. The legs are graceful, carved, elegantly decorated. Mostly straight sofas are installed, but corner options are also possible. Upholstery made of high-quality textiles in noble colors.

Essential elements

Interior design in the neoclassical style must be carefully considered. In the photo and among the finished design projects it is easy to see the basic techniques that are used to decorate rooms in this style.

Wall decoration

In the neoclassical style, the walls should visually increase the space, so for their decoration they use mainly light shades of pastel (beige-sand, golden and pink tones, cold blue, pale olive).

The elegant neoclassical style will not leave anyone indifferent

It is appropriate to use smooth decorative plasters such as Venetian, paint with a silky-glossy or matte texture for wall decoration. Wallpaper can be either plain (for painting), or with a neutral classic pattern or wide stripes. The latter not only looks stylish and noble, but also visually raises the ceiling, which will not be superfluous when creating a harmonious neoclassical interior.

Additionally, when finishing the walls, their lower part can be highlighted. For this, either darker wallpaper, often with large floral patterns, or textured plaster, or wooden panels or their imitation are used. Part of the room can be decorated with wood, but to its full height; in this case, preference is given to shaped panels of medium-saturated shades.

Wall moldings and moldings with gold trim

Plain walls can be decorated with modern works of art

The following may be present on the walls as additional decorative elements:

  • Niches, sometimes with decorative porticoes.
  • Pilasters or columns.
  • Arches.

Wall painting is one of the attributes of the neoclassical style

Ceiling decoration

In the neoclassical style, the best interior solution would be a smooth white ceiling, the shade of which matches the tone of the walls. For decoration use:

  • Decorative wooden panels dividing the ceiling into equal rectangles.
  • Stucco molding - wide ceiling plinths, cornices, rosettes in antique or minimalist style.

Smooth ideal ceiling for apartment neoclassics

Quality floor

Neoclassicism is characterized by the use of noble, expensive materials, so wood is optimal for finishing the floor, as it fills the room with coziness and creates a comfortable environment. It could be:

  • Classic parquet, especially inlaid parquet.
  • High-quality laminate or wide parquet boards imitating valuable types of wood.
  • Ceramic or PVC tiles with wood imitation.

Checkerboard porcelain stoneware floor

An alternative to a wooden floor can be:

  • Marble or other smooth, polished stone, porcelain stoneware. Such floors complement the interiors of the kitchen, dining room, halls or hallways, and less often living rooms.
  • Carpet, but always of high quality with a spectacular ornament. This coating will complement the interior of a bedroom or a cozy living room or office.

Fine-pile carpet is suitable for the bedroom

Features of choosing textiles in the neoclassical style

When creating the interior of apartments in the neoclassical style, designers pay great attention to textiles. Here, as in other cases, it is important to maintain a sense of proportion. Preference is given to expensive natural materials, such as satin, velvet, silk, linen, etc.

view album in new window

Simple curtains made of thick fabric are hung on the windows. It is allowed to use lambrequins and carved cornices, which will add sophistication to the decor.

The shade of the carpet should match the main color scheme. Most often, dim, monochromatic coatings are chosen. In some cases, you can use carpets with floral patterns or simple geometric patterns.

Hallway interior in minimalist style

The friendliest style is minimalism. Without complex design solutions, it is perfect for small spaces. The essence of the style lies in the name: a minimum of furniture and decorations, a maximum of space and light. This style has:

  • light shades (white is often used as a base with one or two contrasting colors);
  • correct geometric shapes;
  • rug to match the floor covering;
  • lack of decorative accessories (no more than one or two).

Interior of a small hallway in a modern style

A hallway in a modern style is always functional and aesthetically attractive. And for a small space, modern style is the best option. It assumes simplicity, practicality and, to some extent, minimalist design solutions. In general, modern style has incorporated the principles of such popular trends as hi-tech, loft and modern. Its signs:

  • sophistication, not overloaded with decorations;
  • achromatic colors - white, black, gray;
  • natural materials - wood, glass, metal, ceramics;

Hallway interior in Art Deco style

An Art Deco style hallway is, first of all, expensive eclecticism. Silver, crocodile skin, ivory, colorful patterns, precious woods, furs, intricate patterns, marble... All this is inherent in this direction. In a small room there is no place for full-fledged Art Deco to develop, but the following will help set the right tone:

  • massive mirrors in an unusual frame;
  • symmetrically arranged furniture - identical chairs on the sides of the chest of drawers, lamps;
  • geometric accents;
  • marble flooring;
  • massive chandeliers;
  • wall decoration in black, white, gray, beige, brown, silver shades;
  • accents in luxurious shades of red, green, blue, burgundy and pink;
  • metal accessories with a glossy surface;
  • sculptures.
